I'll swing by as well - I bought a load at BICS then promptly picked up the wrong bag at the end of the day...

Not sure if I'll make both days - work has unloaded a ton of stuff that needs doing, but I want to see

a) either Dredd stuff
b) the reaction to there not being any Dredd stuff

Dredd was superb, loved
Duncan Jones' Dad turning up
Really warming to Dandridge as well.

I really, really like that.

The only thing I'd say is now he's missing the belt, the buckle looks like a codpiece...

QuoteI find it a bit weird that Rich picks out the Blakee Pentax moment from Robohunter, when there's the Mafioso God-droid, or the italian football team, or the rest of the stereotypes there.

Becasue that was the one that sprung to mind! I'd forgotten about the rest of them.
You've got a point though... I would not have immediatley thought of them as rascist.
Maybe it's something in me, I don't know, but I'm a lot more uncomfortable with the Japanese thing than the Italian one.

Mmmm... this isn't as clear cut as you think, is it?

Maybe it's easier to accept a racial stereotype of a robot, since they're already caricatured to a point, where 'real' people is a different matter.

Does the narration pastiche something else though?

I'm not that bothered about racist dialogue from characters in Dredd as Justice Dept is pretty xenophobic.

Anyone read the first episode of Ro-busters with the Japanese robot - that's far worse in the stereotype stakes.

I find it a bit weird that Rich picks out the Blakee Pentax moment from Robohunter, when there's the Mafioso God-droid, or the italian football team, or the rest of the stereotypes there. Not to mention the re-edited dialogue of Chan for the re-prints...

Like Colin says, everyone gets targeted, yeah it's a stereotype but everyone seems to be fair game, from fat americans to tea drinking stuck-up english.

Looks great!

I don't mind a bit of wear, too clean and it's a bit 'C3PO at the throne room bling'

I remember seeing the poster for that, and asking myself - 'What internet sensation?'

Now if it was keyboard cat...

Ah cool. Just wanted to check because i saw a pic of the new Dredd movie and the helmet looked super distressed, but none of the comic covers i saw that anywhere near that level of wear.

Yeah, the wear and tear thing is more a movie conceit that DNA liked. They borrowed one of the helmets from Minty for some reference, and liked the battered look of the dead judge's helmet from the poster.

That said, there's been plenty of times when it's been dented, cracked, the visor shattered etc, but it's not its default condition for most artists...

Cheers

Capes? Where do you meatheads think this is, the moon?

Was that a gag about the Ma-ma Dredd thing in the queue? That's pretty obscure :)

15 for me, but the office has a fair amount of ambient noise.

They must have  been really tempted to have a shouted BOO! at some point.

Great Meg, with Numbercruncher and Insurrection really hitting the spot.

And yay, I spotted the helmet on a post in Anderson!

One story that reinforces the nature of gender (or it's lack of importance) within Justice Department) is Tomb of the Judges.

In the story a female judge is entombed and driven insane by the experience - her body is used as a donor for the brain of a mortally injured male judge.
