Help! / Re: Converting AVCHD files to MPEG4?

Sounds like one of those things where it's an older Premiere - I know they tended to add native support for AVCHD etc.

Definitely better if she can do it herself :)

What's being used on the Mac for editing?

Premiere should be able to handle .mts files natively - there's this here which says it will convert them on the Mac itself

I was wondering how much they spent on Vuvuzelas and inflatable giant scissors?

Not nearly as much as one might spend on skiing in Klosters, dinner at the Ritz or a hamper from Fortnum and Mason.

Oh, I don't know - you might get some bargains from Fortnum and Mason tomorrow...

Ah yes, this is what Christmas Eve used to be like...

PDFs work fine on dropbox on my iphone, so I can't see a problem doing it that way.

went in to the local Apple store and yeah, they've sold out - couldn't be arsed to shop around so I just put an order in.

Unfortunately I'm on O2 for another 6 months for my phone, but the hotspot thing sounds cool.

Turns out that 3 have a sim only rolling plan which is 10gig for £15 still, so I'm going to go with that.

Almost bought it today, but got far too much work to do this weekend...

I bought Crysis on the PC when it first came out, and it ran like a dog, like it did on 90% of PCs at the time.

I should really play it through properly now I've got better kit, but I rarely play anything on the PC anymore.

Does anyone have any thoughts on 3G providers?

Currently I'm on O2 for my iphone, and the signal is pretty ropey - the tariffs don't seem that great either.

I was recommended 3 by the local Apple dealer, but I've noticed that they only offer the 15GB usage for the Ipad2, at £25/Month compared to 10GB at £15/Month for the ipad. (Although the ipad2 is subsidised)

I can't imagine I'd be pushing a huge amount of data, it would be mainly browsing over 3G, not streaming.

I'm not really bothered about whether it's subsidised or not, it's more the monthly cost/reliability of signal.

Thanks,

Steve

I do agree that a haze over the whole scene would make it more epic, so the main Strato-V is at about 50% grey and the rest just progressively fade into the fog.

Still an amazing piece though.

Yeah, it's mainly as a device to review shots/stills with.

I'm quite interested in the sd cards that have wi-fi built in, but unfortunately they're not really high capacity enough for me, and I don't think they do CF cards like that.

It would also be highly useful for film-makers to have an hdmi input on a tablet, so it could be used as a monitor.

That alone, I would buy one in a snap - but I know it's so niche that it's unlikely to happen.

I may get one, it would be awfully handy to carry around reels/portfolios with, especially now that it's got HDMI out as well.

Still torn.

If it had a USB port or even a built-in card-reader as opposed to daisy-chaining stuff onto the 30-pin connector I would buy one.

Still not entirely sure what I would use it for, day-to-day - maybe a bit of browsing on the commute (but paying extra to mobile operators to do that, when I've already paying a phone tariff rankles)

It still seems more of a device for consumption rather than creation though - I think I'll be waiting a while for something Cintiq like in an ipad, at an ipad price.
