Cheers,

it's nice to be able to take a bit of time over it - usually it's rush jobs for the paying work.

Small update - a bit grubbier/scrapes etc.

Some rivets and stuff.

Think he could do with some gunge around the bottom of the door, and wear and tear on the shovel/pincers.

Also there's a seam on the tyre texture that needs fixing.

Cheers,

Steve

That's Kev - although it doesn't always seem to have it.

Absolutely - there are some worn bits on the head, but they tend to get a bit lost.

I definitely want to get a couple of bumps and roughness around the edges, and dirt around the joints.

Well, if anyone has a contact for him, I'd love them to forward it when it's finished.

Tordelback - you bugger... :)

To be honest, probably not that tricky, Max has some hair trickery which could handle that.

Thanks Guys,

I'm sure I will do more droids at some point, I guess Hammerstein would be the obvious first choice. Not sure which version to go for though.

Really tempted to get Ro-Jaws 3D-Prototyped into a proper model when he's finished...

Cheers,

Steve

An update - still a bit shiney overall, but I thought I'd upload a high-res one so you can get a closer look.

Hi,

yeah, I'm not entirely convinced about using 3D in strips - I think D'Israeli's use of it for hardware was well done though.

Mudbox is dead easy to pick up, but it's designed to be part of a pipeline, to use with Maya, Max or XSI, rather than Zbrush which can be used on its own. (but the interface on ZB is a bit mental)

Thanks - I'm working on the textures now, I really want it to hold up at print resolution, and close-ups.

Yep, it was used to store hot coals in 'The Gothic Empire'.

I've got a 2000AD Special Edition cover in front of me where the door is open and it's rubbish spilling out.

Anyway, the doors a separate object, so it could open if need be.

And there's this one-off where you see inside. Also he's got a number plate on the back in this one.

Hi,

the model's about a day and half I guess - the animation was nothing, about half an hour if that, and a couple of hours to render.

Yeah, his teeth can gnash - though I may have to do something creative because there's not much space for them to go.

Cheers,

Steve

OK, here he is rolling about (not great animation it has to be said)
The next thing is getting back to the modeling and texturing, I want to rig him up so he can have a bit of suspension in the legs, and maybe be able to turn his body slightly.

Also maybe rig the arms so they can extend as well.

Cheers,

Steve

Yep, I've got to make him more of a rust-bucket, he is a sewer-droid after all.

Cheers,

Steve
