It really isn't worth it - it mainly consisted of the presenters gurning about dressed as Desperate Dan, Dennis the Menace, Minnie the Minx etc.

The only mention of tooth is just a half second of Prog 1 in a montage of comics.

Just be grateful they're not concentrating on Devlin in the Meg...

Yeah, shame the shuttle didn't separate, I really wanted to see how well (if at all) it would have been able to glide down.

I was expecting to go about 20 feet and blow up.

It seemed to pretty much cover old ground - but it was interesting to see how it affected people brought into the conspiracy just by being there, like the pilot of that plane near the Pentagon, Frank Spotnitz etc.

BTW, the Reliant Robin shuttle launch on Top Gear just before it looked like it cost a lot...

Film & TV / The Silent City short
17 February, 2007, 03:06:58 PM
Hi,

A short sci-fi film - one guy did pretty much all the VFX and directed it.

(Fairly gory, in case that bothers anyone)

There's also a shot breakdown of some of the effects on the site, for those who like that sort of thing.

Cheers,

- Steve

I like that Mean and Death manage a smile, but old Stony Face has the same old grimace.

I really want to get back into it, but I've been busy with work for the past few months.

Funny you should say that Mike.

Hi Mike,

I think it's maybe the scale of the visor, the gap between the inverted V and the side the helmet, maybe make the whole helmet a bit narrower from the front view.

Good start though.

That's great Mike - shame the motion blur takes so long...

Maybe you could try reducing the shutter to reduce the blur slightly and see if there are options to reduce the samples used? I've never used C4D but most programmes let you reduce the quality to speed it up.

Ah, there's always stuff to learn.

Looking around, it might be called HyperNURBS in C4D if it's there at all.

Yeah, Max is expensive - although if you're doing lots of paid work with it, then it pays for itself soon enough.

That said, Softimage XSI have a good range of packages from the Foundation version for a few hundred quid upward.

Hi Mike,

cheers - I love your Land Raider, brings back memories...

I use 3DS Max.

In fact, you might find this thread useful - does Cinema4D have a smooth feature where you can work on a lower polygon mesh, and then subdivide it so it is smoother.

This thread (and it's long and a bit of a ramble) talks about the best way to model so it looks good if you subdivide it afterwards.

It's mainly useful for mechanical stuff, but it really helped when it comes to modeling that way.

Cheers,

Steve

Mike shamed me into working some more on my Ro-Jaws - not textured and I still want to do a bit more work on the model.
