General / Was the original Judge Giant breaking regs?
30 October, 2003, 09:08:31 AM
I have a question guys...remember back around judgement Day, Dredd found out that Judge Giant (the one who got killed, I think by Orlok)had fathered a son...if they had found that out before Giant dided, would Giant have been facing a 20 stretch on Titan?? Or is that a lesser crime than killing innocents etc? Is that rookie Judge Giant all grown up, and a full-time Judge now??

General / Thoughts on collecting 2000AD again...
25 October, 2003, 01:49:24 PM
Well folks, I received my first two issues of 2000AD again, after about a decade off. Progs 1357 & 1358. My thoughts? Good. Not great, but good, and at least trying to be a bit different from your average US comic. I loved Dredd, especially "Club Sov", only caught the very end of "The Tax Dodge" but it looked like the conclusion to another fine Alpha tale. Jumped in right in the middle or end of Leviathan but liked it straight away, didn't like Sinster Dexter much when I picked up a couple of progs 6 or so months ago, but the art was *awesome* in this story. Good enough. From Grace-sorry not my cup of tea. But overall, I'm impressed. But i want to see Johnny back, (I wish he was weekly like Dredd) ABC Warriors, and some of the other classic stuff; like Rogue. But I like new stuff as well, so I'm happy to sit back and enjoy it for awhile. The good thing is Dredd is there evry week- I like that.

General / Who misses the old monthlies?
14 October, 2003, 01:33:37 PM
Call me an old traditionlist but I thought the old Monthlies were excellent value. I got into 2000AD during the start of the Oz Saga, and I found the Monthly was a great way to get into all the old adventures. I bought heaps of them. I think its a shame we just have the over-priced Meg today, with the page size reduced. I really think they should restart the Monthly proper. thoughts guys?? Without the Monthly, I would never have read the 3 Halo Jones books, which I regard as one of the finest comic stories I've ever read...

General / Whatever happen to McGruder?
04 October, 2003, 01:51:52 PM
When I started reading 2000AD,with the Oz saga, McGruder was no longer Chief Judge, Silver was, I assumed she had taken the Long Walk, and when I dropped out of reading 2000Ad, post Necropolis, post Judgement Day, McGruder was the Chief Judge again, but there was this massive boring long-winded story about robot judges...YAWWWWN...so anyway I think I recall McGruder was going psycho again...can someone how she ended up in the Cursed Earth in the *first place* and what happened to her as a result of this robot judge story? Would anyone else agree with me this is when the comic took a sharp decline in quality?? Anyway I'm interested in hearing what happened to her. Did Dredd kill her???

General / I did it!!!!!!!!!
02 October, 2003, 10:36:09 AM
Hi guys

I took your advice and I've added 2000AD to my order, at my local comic store!!! The situation with getting them in Sydney is pretty ugly, nothing on the shelves, only orders. My order might not kick in for like 8 weeks!!! Its all very strange-if they are not on the shelves, its very hard for your average reader to wake up and think, "yeh I feel like some Dredd action today!!" But I'm back on board guys. :-)

General / PC or X-Box for the game?
01 October, 2003, 08:51:56 AM
Hey guys, whats your recommendation-X Box or PC for the upcoming game? I personally cannot wait to deal out the Justice, and as I have both platforms, I thought I would ask the experts...

This is a long-running dispute I have with my best friend-I reference back to "Judgement Day" where Joe Dredd takes the Stront down in a fist-fight, and pretty easily too. Did anyone else ever think this was a bit lame?? They could have had a full battle using Johnny's equipment, and Dredd's equipment, instead of a child-like brawl, and narration which basically said "Dredd wins-because he is a Judge." Hey, Johnny was a Stront!!!!!!!!!! :-) What was the general take? I know this is an odd request, and coming like 10 years too late, but its always bugged me, and shortly after this incident I dropped the comic!!!!!!!!! I petition the court...

General / How good is the comic now??
30 September, 2003, 03:23:12 PM
Hi guys

I know I am asking a biased audience, but I want a good opinion on the quality of the comic,as I am *thinking* of picking it up again. I tried about 6 months ago, really enjoyed Dredd, Rogue and the Johnny Alpha story ('Roadhouse') but some of the other stuff felt a bit flat. Anyway, I used to be a hardcore fan, for about 6 years, and I've read a lot of the old mothlies, so I know a lot of the great stories...but you tell me, how GOOD is it now? BTW its about $8.00 a comic in Oz!! That a disgrace for a weekly comic IMO. Nevertheless, i am tempted, and like many of out there, I WILL be getting the game!!!
