I'm looking forward to this more now that its just Savage and not the mix.  That was putting me off as well.

I'm aware that none of this has any relation to the genre but I like them.

Actually DD reminded me of another one - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Just after the three-way showdown, Eli Wallch is standing wobbling on that flimsy cross, as he watches Eastwood ride off on his horse. He tries desperately not to move but the cross can't bear his weight much more....

DD, that was For a Few Dollars More, not Good, Bad and the Ugly.

For A Few Dollars More is one of my fave films and endings, glad you reminded me of it.

How come my mind always goes totally blanko when these questions come up?

I would have to say though - ANY of the Evil Dead movies.

Probably won't bother with it now.

Can I try?

Unfortunately I am totally crap at drawing unless I am copying something so I thought I'd try the descriptive method (Mr dribbles did say it would be okay buit no-one esle has tried it yet)

OK.  First of all we see the streets of megacity 1.  A hover bike speeds down the street.  (Deliberate choice of bike over a car, and nowadays i feel that a bike would automatically hover - please note, hover not fly).

It does have to look imposing though.  It would be broad and long - longer at the front than at the back (yeah this could be going a little phallic).  A series of high powered lights to blind/terrify the perps.  Either side would still contain the cannons and the lazers.  The bike is coloured black with gold coloured trimming.

The bike stops and Dredd gets off.  He appears big and broad and the chin is still there.  He wears a helmet (he rides abike, he comes under fire, a helmet would be sensible.)  The helmet is black with gold trim again.  it has a mic for communication. (I toyed wiht the idea of built in communication circuits built into the skull but visually this would be uninteresting.)  the helmet also has some of small camera built into it (although this could be hidden) for use to track down lost judges, see what they last saw, transmit images back to base, for use in anoying "Police camera Action" style shows.

The unifrom is unifrmly black, both shoulders, chest and back are protected by  alighter grey/black rounded padded armour (supplemented underneath by armour plateing).  This gives a greater feeling of bulk and more menacing intimidating image to scare the perps.  Smaller plates cover the abdomen.  Over the heart area is is a circular gold badge with a star within (standard police image/identity), emblazoned across the star is the name Dredd (for easy recognition by the public of who they are).

The belt across the waist contains all the usual equipment along with one of those daysticks that snap out to full length and probably has a tazer effect to it when it strikes someone.  the belt buckle would be fasioned around an image of a bald headed eagle (another popular american image).

A large pair of imposing, steel toecapped boots will help to finish off the image.

Hope folk can be arsed to read all that.

I follow the bulk of the boarders here who feel that two wrongs don't make a right.

Yes I do have kids and hate to think how I would feel if such a thing happened to them, but the action taken in this case does not right that wrong.

And it still could mean that there is someone else just as twisted out there.

Gahh!

I didn't recognise the name and so didn't link.  What a pratt.

Yeah that was the stuff.

I was also lucky enough to get one of those Starship Enterprises and Klingon ships that fired little discs from a lovely auntie.

Pity i had to share them with my sister though.

What memories this thread brings up!

Action MAn was the one that I kept getting.  We were poor though (boo hoo!) and could never get some of the toys that all my pals had.  Getting a Star Wars toy was a major thing for me.

I also remember having something called Micronaughts, a snap together plastic thing with a little man inside it.  Anyone?

Matchbox toys I did manage to have a bucketful and also managed to get that winged car that came out at the same time as the Dredd tank thing.

I have to say, IMHO, that Dredd should remain the top dog if only because I cant see anyone else to replace him.  Its perhaps true that the comic should be promoted as more of an anthology title but who else, outside of the comic is known?

It would take a big marketing ploy and perhaps rebellion are in a position to this - to build up someone else via their computer games, to draw others into 2000ad
