I read 2000 ad with a great deal of delight when I first found it.  I'd come to it from the collected editions and finding a story emerging week by week with these fantastic characters was just great!

Then came that spot in the nineties, where a lot of people seem to have had problems.  For me it stopped being an interesting read as too much of the comic was filled with crap stories.  I gave it up.  Lost touch.  Drifted away.

But over the last couple of years I began to notice it again.  I find comics hard to get hold of, and theres always something to  else to take that monay away than to try and track down that graphic novel (which one to buy? I wouldn't know anymore before I found this board).

Then I discovered this board.  I'd wanted to join a discussion group for a while but all the other boards seemed childish and very geeky (can I say that without offending anyone? I hope so :))

Posting on this board was bringing so much fun I started to feel guilty and so went out and started buying 2000ad again.  It feels good.  The quality of the stories is as I remember them to be, there seems to be none of the utter drivel that was there before and I'm glad to be back.

How does this affect PVS' Solar Flare?

I thought the said that Slaine was going to make an appearance in it?  (or should I not draw attention to this....)

One of the reasons why I stopped reading Tooth all those years ago was partly due to Mill's writting.

I do enjoy Mills stuff normally.  Its just that I felt that everything he was doing at the time was comming across as saying the same thing in differant colours.  I'm maimly thinking about the emphasis on chaos, and the women as leaders thing, with men beating them down over the years.  It wasn't that I was having a problem with what he was saying, more that just every thing was a bit preachey and repetitive.

I'm waiting to see if that has changed.

Mini cream eggs are ace but the last packet I bought (as they now appear to come unwrapped inside) were broken and smashed forcing us to rip the packet apart and slurp the foil insides of all its creamy glory.

Having just re-started to tooth after a few years its all new to me.

I do agree with thepoint that four pages of the good stuff is worth far more than any pish.  I ahve to say that since comming back to tooth, although it has been enjoyable, there has been no WOW factor me, it feels like its running as it always has and the best strip in it seems to be Red Seas (perhaps this is nostalgia).

To create a long running strip with backstory and world takes a while to set up effectively.  I don't think it can be done effectively in a single story.  They need nutured and probably some kind of plan behind them.

The again, at the same time, the addition of a throwaway character can create a long time favourite - Anderson?

Its not easy this is it?

Found the stuff I was on about - the Dave Mckean movie that is - on the IMDB.  It's called MirrorMask and basically it says the following:

MirrorMask centers on Helena, a 15 year old girl in a family of circus entertainers, who often wishes she could run off and join real life. After a fight with her parents about her future plans, her mother falls quite ill and Helena is convinced that it is all her fault. On the eve of her mother's major surgery, she dreams that she is in a strange world with two opposing queens, bizarre creatures, and masked inhabitants. All is not well in this new world - the white queen has fallen ill and can only be restored by the MirrorMask, and it's up to Helena to find it. But as her adventures continue, she begins to wonder whether she's in a dream, or something far more sinister.

So there ya go.

Damned if I can remember now!  Its on  very low budget, something about a girl who lives in a circus, but her life is not  good.  There may be a gateway to another world I think.

I think Mckean is directing it for nothing as well, just to get the chance at doing a movie.  Its all part of the same deal, Gaiman offered to write it when he found out that it was for Mckean.  I'm sure someone else here will remember the title.

I read recently that Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are actually big money maker for the companies that lisence them.  They did not produce the big dollers in the cinema but have since been very stable sellers on the video market.

A short while ago, as many of you may know, they gave a small amount of maney to Dave McKean to direct a movie for the Henderson group (which Neil gaimen wrote for free) to try and do the same again.

I've just come back from the Chopper thread and thought "sod it! the bugger did die!" and I'm gonna vote for him anyway.

But now Duds just reminded me of Corey.  I don't know how to vote now.

Yours, confused

rc: I've refused up to this point to get into any discussions about the general behaviour around here but now I'm feeling compelled to say something.

None of this is intended as insults or slight son your character, just, as DD has done, offered some advice.

Looking at the way some threads have gone recently they all eventually dissolve into a slagging match centred around you.

Whether or not his was initially your fault I'm not really prepared to debate.  But what has become obvious is that any comment you make, even if you are not trying to piss people off, is tending to do that.  This is probably because you have verbally attacked so many people in all the other threads that they fail to see your comments as anything but.

In the end what has become inceasingly obvious is that you are creating trouble, you must realise by now that what you are saying is pissing people off and generally making everything unpleasant.  I've now witnessed countless people try to end these disputes and you always appear to come back with a taunt, as if daring for more.

rc, please get it into your head that you are hurting people here, and the board.  I'm not telling you get lost, or go away.  I'm asking that you back off a little and think about what you are posting for a while.  You have started some interesting threads about tooth and obviously have a love for the comic.

Can we try to forget about the slagging and concentrate on the comic and the board.  This board is a good place.  I'm aware that when Krusty first came he was pissing people off too, I came in on the end of it and at the time I could see why, but he has now settled in and is accepted.

If you could step back thatlittle bit and look at ehat is going on from all sides and try to resort less to these goading attacks then perhaps it will all stop and people will accept you better.

I realise that this is a long post and apologise to the rest of you for it.  rc, this is not an attack, it is a plea, respectfully made with no anger or resentment.  Show me you can respond in a similar way.
