Megazine / Re: Meg 322 - Snapshot

American Reaper and Snapshot should swap artists.

Actually, thats not entirely a facetious comment... photo story would suit Snapshot better than Reaper, and Reaper would get a neat makeover.

Snapshot storywise so far seemed a bit generic and at turns silly... if Pat had had the lead blabbing his name to the mystery voice at the other end of the phone, we'd have never heard the end of it.

Excellent Vzzbux...

The main missing ones are (as far as we can tell):

149, 150 (a story about striking workers that I lost my compucopy of)
154,155,176 (first part of job vacancy - again lost to pc failure)
276 or 278 (theres a story called how the other half live that is either 276 or 278 - we dont have the other)

Also, if you have any others with the numbers on them, they could be of help - its probably been reprinted, but we might ahve given it the wrong number, as some reprints had the numbers removed!

I've seen something like you  describe on ebay a good few years back - it was some kind of promotional magazine or pamphlet or card thing for newsagents - I had pictures of it from the previous ebay listing, but they died with my previous PC

Even so, it seemed a bit remiss to send a single judge to investigate such an important clue, especially when they knew the odds were (if they were lucky)he'd encounter whatever/whoever Wile was going there to seee

Really enjoying Day of Chaos, but two things puzzled me in the past 2 weeks.. firstly, why did Roake go to the shop alone?  Surely, if they knew that was the key to the whole conspiracy, they'd have sent in a whole team?

Secondly, how come the statue of judgement has 2 heads?

What Jim said (yay Jims back!!), with the proviso that I can understand why Pat would personally have hated those years - You didnt have to be an insider to witness droids (editorial and creative) being openly dismissive of Pat at various conventions (I remember a certain droid killing a slaine action figure with a Judge Death action figure a little too gleefully at the Re-Action figures launch in 2000 or thereabouts).

I have no doubt that he isn't imagining that hostility... but he is wrong to say Bishop and Diggle were the darkest days for the readers, it was just the darkest for his relationship with the comic, which isnt the same thing.

Off Topic / Re: Johnny and his Sister?

Alpha's sister Ruth only appeared in one contemporary The Starlord tale "Demon Maker" - the only other time she shows up is in the Portrait flashbacks where she talks about migrating with Nigel (her husband in "Demon Maker") - presumably to the States from what I recall of the setting of DM...

The story is called Monster Maker iirc, with art by Mike Collins.. I'll just go and check if it was reprinted in the Megazine...

Time and dimensional jumping tech appear to be closely interlinked in Dredd tales - see the Staples Death story where Death ends up back at the time of the purges when trying to return to his own dimension.  We can assume that City of the DAmned is also a diverged dimension created by time travel, and an event like Judgement Day would be enough to derail Dredds world from becoming Stronts

I think when it comes to Dredd/Stront I have to believe that Dredds past is Alphas, otherwise we ignore a perfectly excellent story in Top Dog.  I dont see any contradiction as such in the Brit cit of Dredds time and Alphas post Great War Britain.  As others have said, its a new start after that war, with very little left behind to build on.  That, plus I dont give a fig about non-Wagner Dreddverse stuff, as all I know about Brit Cit is that they have/had a King Iggy and theres a tunnel to it under the Atlantic (possibly some more if I could read Brit Cit Babes without gouging out my eyes).  Oh, and some scottish wastelands that fit in fine with the Strontiverse.

Against that we have the fact that Wagner really dislikes the crossover concept in principal (from various interviews he given) and certainly doesnt feel bound to tie these things together for anyone and if hes still writing Dredd in 16 years(!) we'll no doubt have no Great War... but then Dredd had Sabbat come back and mess up the timeline sufficently to create a separate continuity for him from that point on! :)

Thats true - my shorter list also excluded ones reprinted in annuals/specials etc, but that list looks right in terms of stories not reprinted in any of the 4 collections
