Website and Forum / Re: Daily Star Dredd

I don't think a complete list has been compiled.

The list I provided the site of the daily stories (running Mon to Sat) had a gap of at least a year or two covering the time of the movie.

Similarly, the old larger Saturday complete strips wasnt a complete list...

It's like the lost Dr Who episodes, but without anyone caring :(

"I remember one story in which Judge Dredd executes a perp for causing (thousands of?) casualties. According to everything that had gone before, and also according to the late 80s Judge Dredd RPG, the perp would recieve life imprisonment, not death. He was defenceless when executed (by a standard execution round through the chest). "

If I'm thinking what youre thinking that was an early Alan Grant solo story - the guy had some kind of heart attack inducing drug?  Barry Kitson art.  I remember reading that at the time and going "eh?", as it was long established that Judges see death as the easy way out for perps, and would much rather see them rot than kill em.

The perp had ended up on the resyk conveyor belt, and had his teeth pulled out - I think Dredd punched him in the mouth before shooting him... just....wrong

IIRC, they tried to make it into some kind of quasi competition - "can you tell us why they are fighting?" - there was a robotale reprinted in its place - "Killer in the Cab"?

Hmmm - maybe 532?  A MEan Team cover with Jack attacking Panther guy - possibly they ran the cover and not the story?

Smiley - you get all that from those posts...?

I'm sure I fit into a box similar shape to PVS - Opinionated or with strong opinions, depending on whether you agree with them or not.

I really can't see where all this bile is coming from.  PVS said that a lot of people are revisiting the old strips with new eyes.  I know I am.  I'd written off the first year and a half of 2000AD as pretty poor, but it's only reading the EEs of Invasion and MACH 1 that have opened my eyes to the merits of these early strips.  I actually managed to read all of Colony Earth due to the EE reprint - probably the only story I've never finished reading in the progs.  Maybe PVS has been talking to me and extrapolated, but I can't see any crime in his posts, even given that.   I'm usually the first to run screaming for cover when these flame wars break out, but this just seems a bit unwarranted - It's not PVS I see pigeon holing anyone in this thread.

Another obvious but inexplicable plot point I'd forgotten from Bad Wolf - The Daleks didnt know about The Doctor when Rose gets zapped by the Anne Droid, so why didnt she end up being pulped and filleted? How did they know she was anybody?

Its actually a really shoddy episode in terms of logic - akin to your average blockbuster!

Yeah - I'm with the Bear on that point - the series should by rights have stunk.  I suppose its the fact that so much of it is good, that the silly bits and odd resolutions to things stand out even more.

I watch it, enjoy it, then as I think about it later, it all starts to unravel... :)

I agree that the ending was another cop out, and I thnk theya re really going to have to work to actually have proper plots next year or people are gonna get pretty tired of these magic resolutions. However, on the whole I enjoyed it.

to take some of the nitpicks...

"Why spend a whole episode making the 'plot device' machine only to
not use it or even make a big fuss of it? What was the point? To
keep the Doctor out of the action? Why do it? It makes no sense?"

The Doctor was hoping he could make it Dalek specific if he had enough time. In the end, he didn't, so was left with a machine he could only try and bluff the Daleks with.

What exactly was the point of the tv shows plot from last week? The
daleks wanted to keep the population subdued for invasion? But then
wipe out the planet instead?

I thought it was purely to get more genetic material, after running out of "prisoners and refugees"

but to add more from last week:

Why did Lynda initially tell The Doctor it was "brilliant" he had been chosen to be in BB?

Why did the controller put Rose and Jack in instant Death Games, rather than in other BB houses, where they would be safeuntil the Solar Flares?

Sounds more and more like Loner,  from Wildcat comic.  He often had undignified bodily mutations occur to him!  He had an afro, a dodgy beard and a headband...
