I'm going to guess Kev Walker was painting with Citadel paints!

Just trying to buy it in the timing out shop!  ARGH! I'm doing 12 hour days and if this sells out while I am away, I will not be happy  - someone save a copy for me!

It is possible I'll enjoy the Hershey story more as "What Hershey did Before" than "What Hershey did Next", though as a confirmed Smileysceptic (ANTHRAX"with some biscuits and a cup of teeeaaaa!"?ANTHRAX ) not sure the underlying motivation for her travels is going to give it much weight for me personally, not as Tordelback(?) pointed out can I think too long on why Hershey didn't go guns out to save her relatives as a priority, though that might be clearer as we go on.  Going to enjoy the hell out of that Simon Fraser art at least!

Callow youth, for sure!

But even by this time, Alpha's parentage is still a secret - see the end of "Outlaw" where Kreelman is about to blab but the stronts gun him down before he can reveal it.

Even if you thought the Mutant Generals let them down (which is fair - they didnt win a great life for the Mutants, just  life, then pissed off) that should ahve been explicit in the text - it would have made Feral feel a bit more considered rather than just a whiney teen dude

I'm with Fox Block when it comes to Feral (and it seems Conrad Block too!) - the idea that he might hate Alpha as a sellout could work, but it isnt explained as such. That said, I think if you dug back into other Stront tales there would be a number of times that Alpha's War Hero status gets brushed aside - but THAT said, it's glaring here because Feral is monologuing his internals, but not really touching on some of the key points that seem salient to the very situation they are in.

Anyway, what I meant to say was (withoout jinxing it)...

I am glad 2000AD has so far found a way to keep publicating (new word) - Since prog 195, I have missed three progs:

228 because my newsagent was a dick who as soon as I missed one week thought I had binned the comic..  228!!  Of all the progs to miss - I had been on a caravan holiday I think, last week of the school summer holidays, probably Brean Sands. I picked up my progs on a Saturday, as they were held at my nan's newsagents, who we visited every Saturday...

543 - that was bad distribution I recall - newsie didnt get any copies in, let alone my standing order and I tried Nostalgia and Comics, but no luck - I think I snagged it a few months afterwards?

Around about prog 622 I stopped my standing order and started a weekly ritual of going into town to Nostalgia to get my prog every Wednesday - I recall there was a particular "short cut" under missing bit of the Holiday Inn next to N&C, that if I ever went over in my haste, would guarantee the prog would be a day late, so I had to catch myself to avoid doing it...

Prog 889 - a relaunch prog with a free gift that came out the week I was in New York and curiously sold out of N&C

With 1246 I went Subby, possibly due to Alt.comics 2000AD or whatever it was called, and seeing people discussing the prog days in advance....

I had it in my head it was Burton to Garth Ennis?

*I think...

ISTR that story was actually that Richard Burton said those words to Andy Diggle on his arrival at the 2000AD offices and that Andy had to restrain himself from shouting back: "No, it's fucking not!"

I'm just happy to get the prog this week, with a great Dredd, and some lovely art throughout, that I feel now is not the time to dissect the surprise, no matter what I might initially think about it.  All praise to home working Thargs!

Prog / Prog 2174 - Blind Fury!

A cover that it took me a bit of time to recognise as A: Will Simpson and B: Aquila - nice enough, though!

Dredd is fun if a bit exposition heavy - great art and nice idea for a twist on "Dredd meets his cultural counterpart"

Saving the rest but just to say, wonderful Star Scan by Eoin Coveney - Thought it was Mike Collins for a second! Very classic, very dynamic!

My wife's brother-in-law was bragging he had enough toilet roll to last them for at least a year. When I asked if I could get a package, just one mind, he said he'd have to think about it and come up with a suitable value if he did let me have one. Prick.

Nice episode! Pete Wells hits the nail (made of children's finger bones) on the head when he sneers the word "stoodents"!  :)

More prologuing in the Specials is not good specialing - I do very much like the Judge Cory tale, but question it being here, even if these specials were selling more. Limited filler here, but really only the one strip that really earns the title "Special"

That cover might be prettily painted, but it hasn't aged well - Let's hope Tharg doesn't get his own MeToo moment... claiming they do things differently on Quaxxan is not going to wash!

Wife is back from the shops which are half empty now - God knows what panic would set in if they shut the schools - A google search of "Why are the English so" comes up with "angry" and "entitled"  - sounds about right.
