Cool! Should have a pretty sick n twisted problem page ready by tonight, or failing that, the end of the week. The cosmo stuff is a work in progress! Hope that's cool.

The difficult bit about review threads is resisting the temptation to read it!

I answered Dr C's question and thus bumped it up the board. Sorry to be irritating.
Another thing i like about this place is that you can ask any question at all on any subject, and someone will always answer or try to help.

Off Topic / In defence of the off topic thread

Hey all.
I realise that this could have gone on Noisy's latest, but not wanting to drag yet another thread off topic i thought it best to start my own.

With the departure of Logan, it seems many of us are getting a little bored with the board and quite rightly demanding more on-topic threads. Firstly i'd like to explain why i for one usually find that pretty difficult.

As has already been mentioned elsewhere, non-subbers like me are usually too late to add anything to the new prog reviews. Frankly by thursdays, there's nothing left to say, and no-one wants to read the same opinions over and over, right? (and before anyone points out the irony there, i'll move right along).

I'm perhaps not your typical boarder. I've been reading since 1013, I can never remember who drew/ wrote what, unless it completely grabs me, and i originally came here out of curiosity shortly after getting my first home pc. I quickly realised i was completely out of my depth when it came to joining in most comic related discussions (many thanks here to all who've answered one or more of my stupid questions) but it's thanks to all the silly games we play here, like monkey in a hat, my little pony and Q+A that i felt included and have since met some Really Nice People and decided to stick around. Next year, i'm even going to at least one con.

One more idea that just occurred to me is that an off topic thread can be seen as a sign of a healthy online community. After all, you wouldn't want to share personal problems, new born babies, great news and bad with a bunch of people you felt uncomfortable with.

I'd like to draw your attention now to this year's boarder awards 'best message thread' nominations (I never get the links right, but it can't be far away!) At time of posting, the 'off topic' and 'vaguely related silliness' type threads are outnumbering the on topic ones. If this is because you've not voted then do so. That says to me that this place would be very different without our friend 'the off topic thread' and not nearly as much fun.

A message board by definition is only as good as the people who visit and the content of our posts.
All of us make this board what it is. So if there's something you don't like, what's stopping you changing things? Start a thread that does interest you. I bet you won't be the only one.

Cheers.

I'm not a fan of the cover either. Hershey looks like she's overdone the collagen and Tharg looks like kif out of futurama. But man, am i glad to see Dante back. Woohoo! 2nd City Blues looks like it might be fun, Cabs Inc was good too. I've had a bit of trouble following that of late, so a stand alone piece like that really reminded me why i used to like them so much. Sin Dex was good as always, nice to see housemate #1 has resumed his hitman training!
Can't remember anything else that stood out for me...
I'm sure i'll think of something

I think i have a copy of some comic stuff Meiville's done. Also some sketches of Khepri, Cactacae etc. It could take me a while to find, so bear with me, but they shall be scanned. Oh yes.
