Our local post is appalling, with my brother having a lot of problems with cds, dvds, games and books ordered online going missing in transit - at one point, a PS2 game went missing, as did it's replacement copy, and the second replacement copy, at which point the company refunded his money and declared our area 'unsafe' for delivery. All this happened AFTER one postie was arrested for dumping post in a ditch so he could sift through it later for money or anything he could sell to support his heroin habit, so there ain't much love 'round these parts.
Having said that, I always liked the idea of industrial action returning some measure of power to workers on the lowest tier of any industry, but until the prevalent view is to track down bosses and smash their cars up or something equally mental, I can't see them being intimidated by work stoppages.
I'm not condoning that kind of action, I'm just saying that pretty much anything short of it is unlikely to move someone to action when they can get away with losing millions of pounds through negligence and not get fired - just moved to a different post.
