I read this with a full awareness that I was reading something from the 70's, and enjoyed it regardless.
I don't see how you can judge these kinds of reprints by modern standards just because it's a modern reprint.  You can't denigrate a classic just because it looks old or has outmoded social politics, otherwise Casablanca or the Searchers wouldn't be considered as 'good' movies, even though people are more than willing to pay good money to put them in their collections.

This game is ROCK by the time you get to the volcano, and I'm no pushover when it comes to these games, either, so it makes me wonder who, exactly, this game is aimed at.  Playstation owners are mostly in their twenties, which means that, if anything, they're going to want to see the 'old' Transformers, rather than these rubbish new ones - and as I've said, the game is rock hard for something aimed at kids.
I would've preferred the old series Transformers, but instead, we get these Super-link/Energon gubbins.
BAH!
Ah well, worth getting on the cheap in a month or two, when it shows up in bargain bins, as it really is quite good fun up to the point where it gets maddeningly difficult.

Lead poisoning.  Sad to see it in this day and age, but only to be expected in a godless backwater like Belfast.

Imaginary polar bears, certainly.

Do polar bears hold a position of trust in Hull's finest centre of learning?  I think not.  Polar bears are mentally incapable of brown bear levels of intellectual achievement - they're an inferior sub-race that should be rounded up in camps and gassed.

'Ahh, you get time off, I go in on double time..! What a country. '

Funnily enough, our entire workforce is catholic.  Don't know why we get the two weeks off, but we do.
You'd think there'd be MORE work for a glazier around the 12th July, not less, but there you go.

Ah.  Dredd script.  Tooth review.  Might do.

Count me in.
I'm off work for the next two weeks because the local Mr Benn appreciation societies want to have a few conventions and throw stones at policemen*, so I wouldn't mind trying my hand at some illustrations or strips.

East Tyrone, Northern Ireland.  Known locally as 'bandit country'.  You can guess why (but we're much calmer and more multicultural nowadays).

(apparantly)

We have some nice hills.  And a hedge.

WHAAAAT?!?

You mean you think you can just come strolling onto the board with your *own* opinion?  What nonsense!  You'll be telling us you think we're reading far too much into Pat Mills' writing to paint him as a misogynistic homophobe next.

I like to dream Yeah,
right between the sound machine
On a cloud
of sound
I drift
in the night
Any place
it goes
is right
Goes far
flies near
to the stars
away from here
Well, you don't know what we could find
Why don't you come with me little girl
on a magic carpet ride?
You don't know what we could see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me?
fantasy will set you free.

Close your eyes girl,
look inside girl,
let the Sound take you away.

Last night I held Aladdin's lamp,
and so I wished that I could stay.
Before the thing could answer me well someone took, the lamp away
I looked around,
a lousy candle was all I found.
Well, you don't know what
we could find
Why don't you come with me little girl
on a magic carpet ride?
Well, you don't know what we could see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me?
fantasy will set you free.

Close your eyes girl,
look inside girl,
let the Sound take you away.

You don't know what we could find
Why don't you come with me little girl
on a magic carpet ride?
Well, you don't know what we could see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me?
fantasy will set you free.

Working double time
On the seduction line
She was one of a kind
she's just mine all mine
She wanted no applause
Just another course
Made a meal out of me
and come back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I'm back in the ring
to take another swing
'Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you
shook me all night long

Ma blood run cold
ma memory has just bin sold

(brrr)

and as the last piece of clothing
fell to the floor
the police were yelling out for more
on a saturday night 1924

Hikari yo machi no tenshi tachi ni todoke
kagayaku yume o kanaerareru you ni
sakebu siren iza shutsudou da
aku no nioi o nagashi wa shinai

A big, shiny monolith-type thingy that you had to attack with your flying houseboat shaped like a lion.
I liked FF8 because of its realism.
