There's a few Aussies here now.  More always welcome.
Congratulations on your choice of forum and welcome to one of the less anal corners of the web.

Oh, Gary - you KNOW that'll just get 54 Jones all excited.  It's nearly bedtime and he'll never get off to sleep now.

Cheesetastic karaoke there.

"Cliques and already established hierarchy that made it fell unwelcoming to any one new"

Fair enough, but you can't complain that others are getting on with a conversation just because you walk in halfway through, and the internet is no different.  Better, in fact, as if you're actually interested, you can just look through the previous threads via the 'search' function.  As for cliques and hierarchy, that's what you get in any group of people, not just one isolated messageboard on the internet.  The ones who get along will make references to events off the board between themselves, but it's hardly the end of the world, is it?

"Topics being in multiple places, so hard to follow and going wildly off topic very quickly."

Well, no offence, but so what?  I've been on other messageboards where the admins/mods are absolute nazis when it comes to discussing stuff, and those boards/forums are cliqey, anally-retentive geek-outs of the worst kind.  You only THINK this board is a little hostile to newcomers.

"Personal attacks on people."

I'll give you that.  But as ever, not isolated to this board.  If you want to see REAL personal hostility, try going on a gaming forum and slagging off the Xbox.  They don't like that.

"Not being that interesting."

And surely would be distinctly LESS interesting if it was confined to the one subject and no off-topic banter allowed.  Of course, they might just mean that there was to much on-topic discussion and this detracted from all the good stuff, like personal attacks and multiple threads about Urban Dead and why a fez is/isn't a hat where monkeys are concerned.

"Are you joking I?m not that sad."

Well, to be fair - if you're at a comics convention, so you're actually SADDER.  Anyone with a computer can visit the 2000ad messageboard from their home, which is decidedly less sad than spending an entire day/weekend surrounded by overweight Batman fanboys who live in their mum's spare room.

And if I haven't said it before - I'm perfectly willing to admit that a fez is a hat, but because of sheer ubiquitousness, NOT when combined with a monkey.  A 'monkey in a fez' is a monkey in a fez, and a 'monkey in a hat' is a monkey wearing something else.  A bowler hat, perhaps.  Or a trilby or a panama.

Actually, I think you'll find badger baiting has been illegal for quite some time.

Film & TV / Re: ...NEW DR WHO TONIGHT, 10/06/0...

I usually pounce on the slightest flaw in anything, but I don't seem able to get too annoyed by anything in Who lately.  I did wonder if the Tardis had ever did anything like that tractor-beam bit at the end ever before, and even though everyone was expecting the Doctor to find the Tardis, it was still a bit out of nowhere, for some reason.  Don't know why.
Fun enough.  Next week looks like an episode told outside the Doctor/Rose's point of view, which is probably overdue.
Never really got into Peter Kaye, though.  Looks like he'll be playing it a bit hammy, but it's not like he'll be out of place.

Love that "bored now" - like he expects the board members to jump when he says so.  Not a million miles from my favourite asshole-ism of all time "I know what you are, but what am I?", which appears in paraphrased form on that board several times on the Morrison topic alone.  Mind you, I laughed when I saw it used on this board recently, too.
You really can take this whole internet thing a bit too seriously, apparantly.

It wasn't smoke that gave Roy Castle cancer, it was tap-dancing.

'Gruelling vacation'?  Either that's a contradiction in terms, or like most other things, Byrne fails to grasp what the concept entails.

Floyd's better off chucked from that forum - a brief read is enough to discover that it simply isn't the place for a voice of sanity.

He gets a mention as a footnote to the name 'Byrne' in Ireland.

Hmmm...  Whose side to come down on..?
An apparantly genial, if introverted and argueably slightly odd old bloke who wrote Watchmen and V For Vendetta and has proved that for all his hit and miss writing, he can pull a work of near (if not *actual*) genius out of his arse when he wants to, and who just seems to want everyone to leave him alone - or an egomaniacal, hypocritical, small-minded racist who has an odd distraction for drawing women in compromising and uncomfortable positions, and, more notably, has never, ever produced anything of intellectual worth or value in the medium of comics.

Tough call.

Seems Byrne is a coward as well as a hypocrite, then.
