Website and Forum / Message categories
17 June, 2005, 09:40:43 PM
I've just added some clarifications to the category choices to show which ones I think ought to be on topic categories.

Obviously, on topic threads are fine in all of the other categories (except perhaps Off topic)

Feel free to make suggestions or comments.

Cheers,

Website and Forum / Reprinted covers
13 June, 2005, 08:34:21 PM
I've just added a new table to the database, so that you can now see where a cover has been reused at a later date, and where the cover was first published.

For example, the Bisley Batman/Dredd cover.

The table is currently fairly empty so feel free to add to this thread with reports of where covers have been reprinted and I'll add the information to the database.

Cheers,

Wake

Help! / Fr1day artwork

Can anyone tell me whether this Chris Weston page is from Scavenger of Souls or G.I. Blues? There are also a few yearbook/special stories it could be from but I'm guessing it's probably from the weekly.

Padlo Doce is sending me images of some of his collection.

Classifieds / Dom Reardon - 13 complete episodes
24 May, 2005, 04:08:32 PM
Yesterday evening I collected, photographed, named, cropped and uploaded 70 Caballistics pages by Dom Reardon. To save time listing them, I've put them on the site as complete episodes. However, I'm more than happy to take offers on individual pages.

Dom told me that one page in particular, the avenging angel splash from Safe House episode 3, has had a number of enquiries - so please let me know if you are interested in that page so I can decide whether to auction it or not.

The stories I've uploaded are:

Creepshow - 8 x 5 pages
Weird War Tales - 1 x 10 pages
Picking up the pieces - 1 x 5 pages
Safe House - 3 x 5 pages

Cheers,

Wake

Website and Forum / Metro strips updated
11 May, 2005, 10:08:45 PM
If you were paying attention then you will have noticed that there wasn't a new Metro strip online last week.

Well this week there is, and it is the first one which hasn't previously been reprinted in the Megazine.

Loose Cannons was supposed to have been published by Marvel UK as a four issue mini-series in 1994. However, it was axed half way through the last book, just before publication of the first.

Mark Harrison has scanned and enhanced the original artwork, and the story is now available for all to read, including a brief history and extras gallery.

Share and enjoy!

Film & TV / Comic related drama tonight
20 April, 2005, 02:07:42 AM
My wife has pointed out to me that tonight's episode of Hustle (BBC1 9pm-10pm) is comic related.

"Drama series about a team of con artists. The team enter the world of comic book fanatics when they plan to rip off an auction house, but their con goes awry when a corrupt copper decides she wants in."

I don't normally watch this series but I might give this episode a look.

Other Reviews / hp scanjet 4670
25 March, 2005, 06:33:55 PM
I've just tested out the panorama maker on the hp scanjet 4670 - a vertical scanner which you can take off it's stand and lay over the artwork.

My test page was an A3 Nemesis the Warlock page by Henry Flint

Test 1
I scanned in two sections, missing out the top and bottom borders to maximize the centre overlap.
The panorama maker failed to join the two halves correctly but using the fine tune function I ended up with an excellent result.

Test 2
I scanned in two sections, including the top and bottom borders. Unfortunately this didn't leave enough overlap for panorama maker to stitch
the two halves together, even with fine tune

Test 3
I scanned in three sections.
The resulting image was right first time and didn't need any fine tuning.

The web sized image is 775 pixels wide and just under 300k

Even though the image is black and white I scanned in colour and I have made no adjustments to contrast, etc. I can't see the joins, so I've very impressed and will be scanning more of my artwork using the scanjet as and when I get around to it.

Cheers,

Wake

Film & TV / Can anyone record TV to DVD for me?
08 February, 2005, 05:12:06 AM
I would have titled this post 'does anyone have a DVD recorder?' but that might imply I'm looking for someone with a DVD writer in their PC.

Please could someone record Blood on our Hands for me.
Channel 4
Thursday 10th February
Time: 21:00 to 23:10
Duration: 2 hours and 10 minutes.

It should feature my son Finn as Baby Ned one of the main characters as a child in a flashback sequence. I may be in it too - but just as a musketeer in the background of a 'hair cutting' scene.

I'll be taping it onto VHS but it would be great if someone could record it onto DVD.

Cheers,

Mark Willis, Robert Cox and myself have just bought a dozen Judge Dredd pages and covers which arrived from America yesterday.

Only two of the six Bolland pages are going to be sold, so I have listed them on the ComicArtCommunity auction site for $1100 each including worldwide shipping

I have also listed a painted Judge Dredd splash page by Carlos Ezquerra for $700 on the same site
