Just stumbled across this thread (and then loads of SDCC pics of the costumes on Flickr). It's great to see them finished. The gold paint on the shoulder pads seems to go okay with the gold metal of the helmet and buckle. The greens all look excellent, especially the gloves. The position of the helmet seems to make a big difference to how good each photo looks. If the wearer's nose isn't central it really stands out, but when they're on right they don't even look too big on Hershey. Did you try wearing a helmet liner to help stop it moving?

There are just two uniforms like this, but there was another Dredd wearing a Termight Replicas helmet at SDCC who appears in some of the photos but the rest of his uniform is different.

It would be great to see this uniform alongside the Judge Minty one to get a more direct comparison of shoulder eagle sizes and colours etc.

Cheers,

Do you think that the monthly art comps would be best placed here?

How about the Mk II lawgiver eagle. This is the version I drew for Termight Replicas based on the Tek image .

and an earlier version

Quote from: Tweak72 on 20 July, 2009, 10:55:22 AMWake, are there any planes for a metal SD badge? I would be able to convince Mrs Tweak if there where.

I'm not entirely sure how to get an SD badge "right". The resin one is the shape I want, and I could easily make the oval back from gold-plated metal but the problem is the red dome. Enamel won't work. I have a few ideas but at the moment I'm concentrating on other stuff.

Writer Mike Atherton (@sizemore on twitter) has just blogged this review of my Termight Replicas buckle and badge here.

QuoteThese two items though are in a different league. First thing you notice is the weight. These guys are not messing around. They even manage to kick the ass of non comic fans. The detail is brilliant and they've immediately both become prize possessions.

I'm going on holiday for 3 weeks on Friday, so if you'd like a buckle this month, please place your order as soon as possible. Orders for belts should be by noon on Monday.

I got the originals from Nigel Dobbyn and reduced them to 32x32.

Here's the link.

I have to say I can't see why it would go for so much.

Quote from: VinceBot on 16 July, 2009, 12:07:30 AMYou people and your weirdly small avatars make me uncomfortable.  :-\

The original version of this forum had a 32x32 pixel avatar limit. One big advantage of that was that it was usually still recognisable when reduced to 16x16 in the Active Topics list and chat room.

The 32x32 pixel icons still get plenty of use on BARNEY.

The other excellent items include Judge Dredd belt buckle and Dan Dare cap badge from me, so please take a look if you're nearby. Photos really don't show you the whole picture.

The relevance searching has thrown up a couple of posts I've never read before.

I think this is the RPF thread where he was asking what to buy you.

Please could you make it so that the Active Topics links works when you aren't logged on. If I come to the board via a bookmark I tend to find myself logged off and so at the moment I have to log back on before I can start reading the active topics, even if I don't want to post.

And we have 'Active topics'! Excellent job. Personally I'd be happy to lose view unread posts. Active topics shows a new tag when the posts are unread.

BTW, I wouldn't have been able to easily find this topic to post to it without active topics, since I'd already read it up to date.

Quote from: Jim_Campbell on 13 July, 2009, 08:19:23 AMSeven days would seem to be a workable value for x, unless anyone disagrees?

It was the smaller of 7 days or 500 posts on the original incarnation of this message board, but the max post number was only because all the active topics were on a single page.
