I was fine with a cartoony style for a Dredd story about kids.

Megazine / Re: Megazine 4.16

According to D'Israeli, only about the first 5 pages appeared on Cool Beans, so I've moved Scarlet Traces from 'Beyond 2000AD' to the Megazine database where it is currently lying in 5th place, inbetween Young Death and The Jesus Syndrome. D'Israeli's response to this accolade was "Excellent news over the placing - it only took me 15 years to become an
overnight success :-)"

I'm afraid you lose your bet. He voted once as himself, which he is perfectly entitled to do. The other 7 are other people.

I don't think it would be a good idea.

Yes...though I find I don't need to make any effort to contact him. For some reason he contacts me...

I figured he'd probably want to follow up on the original next generation post I posted for him, but decided not to let the reply though intact.

Scojo says he meant setting the stories when the son is a man, not a boy. He also said some other stuff about what he would do if he was scripting it, including telling the story as a first person narrative (like Danny Frank's diary in Bad Company), setting it on a new world, and trying
to explore the character's alienation and loneliness.

In a way, I think Strontium Dogs with Feral and Gronk tried to do something like this, but without Johnny and without John Wagner at the helm it didn't manage to replace the then dead Johnny Alpha...which is probabaly why we're now seeing the retro version.

Could you make the category hyperlink go to a list of threads in that category rather than the thread?

I'll do this. I think it used to be that way round in an earlier version, and probably makes more sense.

And maybe the thread starter link can go to a private message or something.

I like this going to the most recent messages by that person. It's only one further click to get to the private email link. Just click on their name in the header of one of the messages. However, this page could do with a link to view each message thread as well as a reply link.

I'm afraid "Why don't you use such-and-such a piece of software?" doesn't have much mileage with me, since it would invariably mean a large amount of recoding the site, especially if I wanted it to be intergrated in the same way as this board. If you have a specific suggestion about how you would like to see this board improved, I'd be happy to hear it.

The database chat room could do with replacing...but there's already the IRC room as an alternative, so again it's not worth spending time on.

Yes...basically the two current publishers for 2000AD thrills are Titan and Rebellion's own european format...I think we should see more from that line in the not too distant future.

A fair amount of Aaagh's stuff seems to be somewhat overpriced, though PVS got a fair deal on his Ron Smith Age Gang (or was it Dave?) page. Also, I find it annoying that so much of the art without the artist in the title is by people like Steve Sampson and Marc Wigmore, and the pages rarely live up to there hyperbole in the title.

Website and Forum / Thrillseeker upgrade

I've just made a significant change to the thrillseeker page in the droid zone. You can now search for multiple creators, specify a series (but not a co-star) and ask for a range of progs or megazines. The range function should work for other publications too if you use the correct code...e.g. 2000ad78 to 2000ad95 for all 2000AD annuals and yearbooks and dredd81 to dredd95 for all Judge Dredd annuals and yearbooks.

A maximum of 50 thrills are presented at once, as per the profile pages. Do people think this should be reduced to 20, to decrease load times?

I've decided against buying any Daily Star stuff. However, I have high hopes for further early Dredd moments on eBay soon...though perhaps not too soon, got to give my bank account a chance to recover.

Well I got 1 of them (The Oxygen Desert double spread) and was the second highest bidder for the other 2.
