If you check his other auctions it looks pretty clear that he is making them.

Here at last is a new work in progress photo of the Termight Replicas version. The paint here is matt but the intention is to either offer the helmet just in gloss or with matt and gloss as alternative options. The helmet badge is, of course, a mock-up.

Thanks for the link. I am, or course, expecting the one Jon Bayliss is working on for me to be significantly better - and black not blue.

Jon's originally fibreglasser has backed out and the replacement was too expensive. However, Jon is currently working for the special effects company that made the movie Judge Dredd suits. He said at the end of March that he was abould to make the first 5 in fibreglass but he was hoping that the rest would be done in the same material that they used for the movie helmets. However, I'm still waiting for photos/news of the fibreglass prototypes.

Meanwhile I'm taking orders for gold-plated helmet badges (£10 including postage worldwide) to help finance having them on the helmet itself. I'm hoping to sell around 50 helmets so if I get 100 helmet badges made I want to try and find homes for the other 50. I've presold 20 so far.

Wake

Here's a blog worth a mention, especially since he doesn't seem to be a regular here.

Film & TV / Re: ...NEW DR WHO TONIGHT, 31/03/0...

I thought I heard the Doctor say sneck (possibly when he noticed that his sonic screwdriver was broken) though I might have been mistaken.

I was pretty happy with the episode especially since it actually felt like the Doctor had outwitted the bad guy instead of just being lucky.

Even Carlos drew 4 bars for a while on his way from 5 to 3.

And yes, there are still Dredd badges left but when they're gone I probably won't be having any more made.

I would like my planned Judge Dredd comic helmet to have a gold-plated metal respirator badge made by the same company I used for the Dredd badges rather than having to use a painted resin version. In order to make this a viable option I need to presell a significant number of helmet badges by themselves since I am unlikely to sell enough helmets to justify the badge production costs.

If you would like to buy a gold-plated helmet badge with 4 vertical bars (approx dimensions 85mm x 77mm x 5mm) with three butterfly clutches on the back please send £10 via PayPal to wake at 2000ad.nu. This preorder price includes uninsured postage worldwide. For overseas insurance (including Europe) please send £14.

I have 14 preorders so far. If I do not have at least 50 preorders by Easter then I'll refund all payments and have painted resin badges made for the helmets.

If you would prefer to pay by cheque please send my a PM for my address.

If you would like to pay a deposit for a Dredd helmet and have not plready done so, please send £20 via PayPal or cheque. The sale price of the Dredd helmets will probably be £180 plus postage. Hopefully I'll have a progress update on the helmet itself very soon.

Cheers,

Wake

P.S. You can see the quality of the gold-plating for the Dredd badge in this photo of it flanked by two SD Studios badges.
