Slimelight is the distillation of decades of crappy goth nights in London. I'm almost proud that I'm barred from it.

School Disco would be great if it didn't have a 1/10 Minger/Beauty ratio going on.

The Turtle near Angel has shut down, hasn't it?

The Reading Turtle is my local, and is officially mighty. The Camden one is cool except when they get all uppity on Fridays and the bouncers try to get you to pay to get in because some rubbish DJ is playing awful trance music that no-one want to listen to.

I haven't been to the Oxford one in a while, but it's very cavernous, very underground (literally) and have suspiciously low ceilings.

And the Official Turtle Policy is Drugs Are Bad And You Will Be Barred!, like Byron says, the bouncers have a remarkably bad ability to notice it. Although the claustropobic Oxford branch is probably different.

Just Say No, Kids. Like Zammo.

"There's a club next door to the Union (the Purple Turtle) but I dunno if it's any good."

It's not a bad - more like a bar with dancefloors than an actualy club. If that makes any sense at all. Bit studenty, but none too shabby. Sells absinthe (or it used to).

I like the Metro Dredd. They used to give me something to read on the tube when I still used it, and I'm not gonna grouch about 1 page a month in the meg.

Hell yes!

Why do the klingons or whoever always fire at the disc bit of the Enterprise? why don't they blow the shit out of the little thin piddley connecting bits?

(and I know the two bits can separate, but that's like an emergency thing, and if they could manage without the back bit then they wouldn't have it).

Why does Tommy Lee Jones give Will Smith a tiny little gun that can blow the shit out of stuff in MIB and not tell him about what it does?

How come when the bad guys in any film surprise the heroes with a burst of automatic weapons fire they always miss for a few seconds, giving the good guys time enough to duck behind cover? If you're sneaking up on someone and have a free shot you'd spend a couple of seconds to aim.

You might think Mike Skinner is a talentless stupid chav-freak who talks over his records, but that fact that in an age of Pop Idol "Dry Your Eyes" can be a number 1 single gives me some cause for hope.

It was different from everythiog else, you can at least give it that.

Prog / Re: 1407 - House of Horror...........
17 September, 2004, 01:21:13 AM
I'm really quite disappointed that no-one's made a (slightly obvious) crack about Wulf's Happy Stick.

Dredd: Looked nice, and shows that Grant can still write a decent enough Dredd.

Cabs: My first read of the prog, and while he might not be doing much talking, at least Mikey is shooting stuff.

Asylum 2: Boo Cook is flip-floping fantastic, although it's all running a bit slow for me.

Robo-Hunter: Great dialogue, although the crane that came out of nowhere confused me a bit.

Stront: Utter, utter class drips from every mutant pore of this.

And I really, really didn't like the cover. I've always wanted to see Mr Irving actually have a go on Cabs (maybe as a one-off) but this cover was nasty, nasty, nasty.

We just don't know how good we're getting it.

Seriously, when was the last time we had Dredd and Alpha running huge stories simultaneously?

Exactly.
