A quick word on the judging too - I'll be doing it! So don't worry if a lot of people say that they don't like your entry as much as *insert other entry here* - I probably will....

The Task:

Ok, we all know who I'm talking about. He's one of the most popular characters in 2000AD - but let's face it, he was designed in the 70s! I'm SURE that you could improve him....
We're looking for overall look for the most part, but things that you'd change with his world to go with your new look Dredd will be a handy bonus!
Either written or drawn entries will be accepted! Give it a go!

The Prizes:

There will be 5 prizes - I'll let you know what they are soon - of various quality. The only one I can confirm before this evening when I get home is Top Ten Book 1.

The Closing Date:

This comp is going to run for a month to let everyone have a bash, and to try and make sure as few people as possible miss it! So the closing date is the 11th March 2004. Noon.

Have fun!

VERY off topic (promise I'll start something on-topic soon!!) but I'm at Bony Fella's house, and while I have the PC to myself, I'm abusing his broadband/CD writer (we can't get broadband). What music should I get? My mind has gone blank. I like most kinds, from old style RnB to 70s metal to modern metal to country. Everything gets a chance.
What bands should I give a try? What do you like that you think everyone should listen to? And can anyone name songs that you hear and go 'Oh yeah... I know this one!'?

No, he supposedly drowned in a trench. Nobody knows exactly, but I think that's the official cause of death.

I love that one... And the sub plot where they organise a rally and offer a 'Free Hat' to try and get people to come, but everyone who turns up wants to Free Hat Macormick - a baby murderer.... So they're working at crossed purposes the entire film...

The boys succeed in the cool Raiders homage scene with the new cut of Indie, and the rest of them somehow manage to free this blatently guilty swine, who says 'Thank you all, and.... Could I get a baby real quick?'

Long pause.

'Give that man a baby!'

Ok, I'll shut up now!!

No no, it's definitely dead. After episode I, II, the touched up versions, the possible new cuts in this, and the fact the prat is going to change the originals AGAIN to fit in properly with I and II, it is most definitely dead. Hunt down a copy of the ORIGINAL 3 films and guard them with your life!!

Hm... looking at the important stuff here, Antony Hopkins and TE Lawrence (of Arabia) went to Lampeter.

But then Lemmy went to Staffordshire. LEMMY!!

So I'm no closer to deciding ;-)

Ok, I'm going to provide a few more details as I've got some time now:

I'm 19. I've taken a year out. I know I want to study Philosophy, as I love it, and I've applied to 6 places and got 4 offers. Unfortunately my two first choices rejected me, so it's down to my two 'backup' choices: Lampeter and Staffordshire.

Lampeter IS 2nd in the country for Philosophy in such circles apparently (Leeds being number 1) - my comment about the top 50 was badly pphrased, but I was referring to Stoke and the 'worst cities' list - it used to be number one, but now it's dropped out of the top 50 altogether.

I'm not going to get into a should I/should I not do higher education debate, as I want to basically! So thats alright. I don't have the best opinion of humanity, and I'm hoping to get the following from life:

Wealth.

And that's about it.

Anyhow, Lampeter should be a no-brainer, but there IS the relative lack of nightlife, I don't necessarily want to be that cut off, and if I went there, my girlfriend wouldn't be able to move too.

Hm, I think that covers it for now... I'll chip in again soon!
Thanks for all your comments, some useful, some funny!

Cheers

Just checked on that - it WAS number one, but now it isn't even in the top 50 - that caused a lot of controversy. Hm, right or wrong?

Hey y'all
Being a wee nipper, I need help! I'm off to University in September, and I've got unconditional offers from Lampeter and from Staffordshire. Lampeter is second best in the country for Philosophy according to inner circles, wheres Staffordshire is less so. But Lampeter is in the middle of nowhere, and while part of me would really like that, it could be a wee bit tedious, being unable to visit people easily.

What do you think is better for me to do? (don't worry, I won't be basing my final decision on what you say, I just want to know what people with a little more experience in these matters think - not to be cheeky!)

The other thing is, does anyone live in Stoke on Trent? Cos if I went to Staffordshire I'd be going with my girlfriend, meaning we'd have to rent a place and I have a few questions about housing...

That's all basically... If you want any other details, I'll clarify!

Laters!
