Help! / IMPORTANT!
26 August, 2004, 08:33:54 AM
VERY IMPORTANT TECH QUESTION

I desperately (within the next 24 hours) need to wipe my laptop. It came with no restore discs or Windows XP CD, so I can't just do a straight wipe. Does XP have a facility to purge everything on the drive except for itself? Or similar? Desperate here!

Cheers

For the most part, Aliens had great ideas and decent execution. Problem is, UU's summary is very enticing. Shame the movies didn't stick to't.

I have to admit, I always thought that the only reason the Alien in the first one was so hard was they had a crummy flamethrower etc. Nothing more.

Having said that, I wanted them to be a lot tougher than they were. Their skin NEVER stops a bullet, which is a shame. I'd have liked them to be so well armoured/thick skinned that they were ALMOST bulletproof.

Umpty, I really REALLY don't think it's fair to say Fincher became a puppet to the studio....

'I'm going to do on-location filming. Don't touch my sets.'

'We won't'

*He goes, comes back*

'Where are my sets?'

'Oh, we burnt them.'

How do you fight that??

Umpty, where are you getting your facts about the Alien from? It's asexual? Where does that cycle come from? Genuinely interested.

As we all probably know, James Cameron occasinally mentions in interviews all the ideas that he's come up with for Alien 5.

Sigourney Weaver (as we all also know) sent the franchise into a death roll because of her obsession with a)starring in them and b) controlling the direction of them, despite her total ignorance when it comes to what people want from them.

She has recently said the following:

"I always said to Tom Rothman, who runs Fox, that I thought it would be interesting to do a small, spooky movie, more like the first one; a psychological thriller that could take Ripley to whatever the next stage may be. Which side would win out, the Jekyll or the Hyde?"

Maybe if we all f*cking SCREAM at the top of our lungs, she'll finally hear and get it. All together now...

IT ISN'T ABOUT RIPLEY YOU DELUDED PRAT!! IT'S ABOUT ALIENS! THAT'S WHY THE FILMS ARE CALLED ALIEN FILMS!! NOT 'THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF RIPLEY'!! ALIENS! ALIENS! ALIENS! NOT YOU!'

Ahem. I do actually like SW, except for that.

Carnage is Venom's offspring. It's less stable, incredibly arrogant and bond with Cletus Cassidy - a serial killer. Called Carnage, causes carnage.

Very good there Boy. You get a gold star. Class, you could learn from his example. One correction -= the suit didn't look like it was killed in the belltower, rather Peter PArker almost was. He forced the suit off, but the sonics almost killed him. The suit, remembering emotion from it's time bonded with Parker (remember, it feeds on emotions) saved his life. It disappeared beforte he woke up. It bonded with Brock because it could feel his hate - the emotions thing again.

JJJ's son became Man-Wolf, but also (in the cartoon) brought Venom back. Neither would make a good story!

Bwahahaha! Actually, this has been a frequent mistake. Loads of people have been saying that 'Hobgoblin will be in the next one'. Well, maybe for variety's sake Raimi will change it all but he's tried to be damn faithful so far so I don't see it happening.

Remember: Norman Osbourne = Green Goblin
Harry Osbourne = Slightly shitter Green Goblin 2

Roderick Kingsley = Hobgoblin
Ned Leeds = FRAMED as Hobgoblin
DemoGoblin = Mad religious demon based on Hobgoblin.

Now haven't you all learned something?

Glad to hear about TB4. Water ONLY.

Okay, my stupid amount of movie trivia knowledge comes into play.

First of all, Harry would be GG2, not Hobgoblin. He may be in it.

The Lizard WILL be. Dunst and Raimi have stated this at various points. Dunst also fingered Doc Ock for the second villain at the same time, so it's a pretty safe bet.

Venom/Carnage will not (please read that again: NOT) be in the third film, or indeed any Raimi helmed movie. There are two reasonons for tis:

1) Sam Raimi is doing the films because he loves Spidey. He stopped reading Spidey in the early 80s. BEFORE Venom. He doesn't like/get Venom.

2) Marvel have sold the rights to a film. Called Venom.

RIGHT!
(sorry, just this argument goes on ALL OVER the friggin net, with people pulling facts out of their arses and it bugs me because they aren't going to - for example - introduce werewolves and things to the movies.

Next... Team America: Worl Police. Yes, it is very real. It's also from the South Park dudes, who are very, very good with the silly humour/scathing insight. Should be utterly fantastic.

Final thing - How the funt would Thunderbird 4 save people from a volcano? Does this happen in the movie?? That's madness!!

Yeah, what the hell is that about??

Everything from Gorilla-Aliens to Snake-Aliens. Thunderbirds 'Marine Centre'. And why the HELL would Spiderman ever, EVER need a 'Spider-cycle'???
Let alone fifty different changes of costume, armour, web abilities, shoes, hair, eyes....

That used to really get to me. Look kids! It's the Terminator's arch nemesis GENERIC NEW VILLAIN! Better collect all his weapons! Despite us having just made him up!
