I don't think it'll be Chopper... they'll probably want the best stuff for these DC reprints.

It's more likely to be something classic that the Yanks wouldn't buy/get

General / Freedom Fighters = Invasion! : The Game
01 May, 2004, 10:19:41 PM
Hm, just noticed this, and I thought I'd point it out.
Freedom Fighters is a game set in a world where the soviets got nuclear capabilities first. They expand, and eventually encircle the US. Then they invade.

The hero of the piece is Christopher Stone. He's a Brooklyn plumber.
Bill Savage is a cockney trucker.

Stone uses pistols and guns, but his standard, never leaves his side weapon is a good old fashioned monkeywrench.
Savage uses a wide variety of tactics and weaponry but his trusty shootah never leaves his side

Stone will do ANYTHING to get the commies out, and this usually involves blowing a load of them away.
Savage will do ANYTHING to get the Volgs out, and this usually involves blowing a load of them away.

You start to see what I mean?

It's like an American version of Savage!! The only two real differences I can find are that New York is the only place where action takes place in Freedom Fighters, and also Stone's hard-nosed, violent 'take no guff' attitude makes folk want to follow him, so he's well in with the resistance.

Er, that's it.
Bloody good game.

The only cool square ever.

The thinking there (ignore the TERRIBLE attempt to slap on a ready-made plot) was two superheroes who have powers that fade and rise (albeit in different ways), fly, and are opposites in several ways (young/old, reckless/careful, responsible/a bit of a prat)

Green Lantern VS Zenith!

With Hal Jordan as Green Lantern

Hal is flying lazily home one afternoon, enjoying the sun on his back and the breeze on his face. He swoops down to ground level and skims the grass. He decides to do some aerobatics, and shoots up gracefully into the dusk sky, spinning and looping through the air. He's relaxed - at peace. Having just managed to save a busload of people, he's feeling good. It's drained his powers, however, and he's on his way back to recharge.

Reaching his house, finally, he grabs the lantern and recharges. As he does so, a strange noise comes from outside. He glances out of the window to see a gaping hole in the ground - a vortex like nothing he's seen before. It appears to be eating away at the earth as it expands. The darkness inside the enormous pit isn't still... Twisted figures dance, trying to break free. He takes flight, circling the vortex at high speed... but what to do?
Trying to contain the thing, he finds himself snagged by the ring's power! He is pulled into the vortex, and as darkness engulfs him, he sees a demonic apparition, seemingly made of shadow, blot out the night sky.

Zenith is at a party. He's having F-U-N. Trying to relax and just chill out a bit. His powers are at a low ebb, and he's waiting for them to charge back up. Unfortunately, he won't get the chance.

He wanders up to the roof with a drink, follower by fans and friends, chatting among themselves, but not wanting to leave his side. Gazing up at the stars, he feels slightly uneasy. One of the stars appears to be green.... Emerald even. His uneasiness is well founded, as the star grows brighter and brighter, eventually filling the sky!

As quickly as it came, it silently fades. A single green speck is left, falling to earth. Zenith yawns. What now? He slides into the air and speeds towards the falling speck. As he draws nearer, he realises that it's a man - but very strange man.... No, a man being attacked by something.. Something that isn't quite there. It seems to be a shadow of sorts. He speeds up, and grabs the man by his shoulders trying to pull him free. The 'thing's grip is strong, but Zenith manages it.

The thing keeps falling, until it hits the ground with a resounding THUMP. All around it's landing spot, a peculiar vortex beings to grow.

Hal Jordan wakes up in the arms of a peculiar masked boy. Unable to speak, he simply takes in his surroundings. Looking down, he can see.... the vortex! The same vortex he was dragged into! But it looks different.

Through it, he can see his home, his world.

And from somewhere within, hordes of shadowy demons are emerging and pouring into both of the worlds.

Summoning all his strength, he manages to hover on his own. The boy hands him the lamp.

'I think this is yours...'

Hal takes it, silently. Is this all the help he's got?

Damn.

I refer not to the Trout, of course.

Great competition. Would have entered, but when you read through the entries it just seemed a bit pointless! Great stuff, well done to all who entered.
