as a bundle from Overclockers Overclockers  and picked up a Asus GeForce 9600GT from [http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech]Novatech and have found that I am pretty future proof until possibly next year or the year after but one should keep ones hand in as 'twer

A fun episode and I loved the little touch with the
William Hartnell's DR's library card
.

Me too. But I was a bit disapointed about
The Vampires being alien fish
Missed oppotunity I feel.
I liked the idea that an old Time Lord enemy like the Great Vampires attempting to return now that Gallifrey was gone. And I am a bit none plussed at the Doctor worrying more about Amy Ponds future marrage then the fact that there a sodding great cracks appearing all over the Universe
OH well it was enjoyable none the less.

You are both up too early to be classed as reasonable human beings. Granted, there is a case for anyone who saw TV this morning because:
1) They have a child under 6 years old
2) They were forced to go to work at this time on a Sunday
3) They watched a bit of telly before FINALLY going to bed after being up all night!

But anyone who got up just to watch Batman is taking the whole geek thing a bit too far.

I have to add they my attitude is influenced by that fact that I am subject to reason 2

Ah yes, the age old case of Finders Keepers, with the added twist of Finder selling on his ill-gotten goods.  I must be horribly naive to think that the person who found that phone had a moral obligation to return it to its owner instead of flogging it.  Obviously involving the cops and using dodgy search warrants is ridiculous (but makes for magnificent X-Files-like publicity for all concerned), but there's more than one weevil in this biscuit.

Seriosusly, have you ever pocketed anything valuable that you've found?  I sincerely doubt it.

Turns out that the person who found did try and give it back

I recently found that I stopped reading round the same time as stated in 'The Prog Slog' (Around the late 900's for much the same reasons. My faith was first shaken around Prog 700 and although there were some high points in the next 300 or so Progs they were like jumps on a very steep downhill ski slope.
I did dip in every 10 Progs or so but for the most part it was mostly recycled kack.

Why did I come back? Pretty much Andy Diggle, Matt Smith and Rebellian.
I didn't like Matt choices at first for every Prog I bought there was always one story i hated. after finding board in 2003 and being on it for about a year I realised I had been getting 2000ad almost every week for ages and some boarders (I sadly forget who) pointed out that while note every one was gong to like every story Matt was pushing the envolpe commision wise in a very old school 2000ad way and had thusly heralded a renaisonce for 2000ad and british comics.

The scales fell from my eyes as t'were and I now think he is possibley one of the greatest Thargs and Andy gets a special place for getting the ball rolling in the right direction.

how can machines really have gender?

These robots were built by humans, who applied genders to them. Hence some of the robots in ABC Warriors have stonking great big tits. Note that gender is not the same as sex, so the inability or otherwise of the robots to reproduce doesn't come into it.

It's even more complicated that that

From Wiki 'Gender'

Gender is the wide set of characteristics that are seen to distinguish between female and male entities, extending from one's biological sex to, in humans, one's social role or gender identity. As a word, it has more than one valid definition. In linguistics, it refers to characteristics of words. In ordinary speech, it is used interchangeably with "sex" to denote the condition of being male or female. In the social sciences, however, it refers specifically to socially constructed and institutionalized differences such as gender roles.[1] The World Health Organization (WHO), for example, uses "gender" to refer to "the socially constructed roles, behaviors, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women".[2] People whose gender identity feels incongruent with femaleness or maleness sometimes refer to themselves as "intergender." Not all cultures adhere to a binary gender system. Some cultures have separate sets of gender-related social roles (distinct from those for men and women) for certain types of intergendered people, such as those covering the hijra of India and Pakistan.

If you want to read the whole artical
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender

From World Heath Organisation page 'What do we mean by "sex" and "gender"?'

Sometimes it is hard to understand exactly what is meant by the term "gender", and how it differs from the closely related term "sex".

"Sex" refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women.

"Gender" refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women.

To put it another way:

"Male" and "female" are sex categories, while "masculine" and "feminine" are gender categories.

Aspects of sex will not vary substantially between different human societies, while aspects of gender may vary greatly.

Some examples of sex characteristics :

Women menstruate while men do not
Men have testicles while women do not
Women have developed breasts that are usually capable of lactating, while men have not
Men generally have more massive bones than women
Some examples of gender characteristics :

In the United States (and most other countries), women earn significantly less money than men for similar work
In Viet Nam, many more men than women smoke, as female smoking has not traditionally been considered appropriate
In Saudi Arabia men are allowed to drive cars while women are not
In most of the world, women do more housework than men
