This Board has been a haven form me in many ways. I can talk to people who are pretty like minded and not the least bit mental like on the rest of the interweb. Most things I want to find or know more about in the world of Sci Fi, Comics, Film or general geekdom I can start by asking here. I can talk to the people who work on the stuff I read (Rufus, PJ and occasionally Boo amongst others) and know that they are real human beings and not some kind of prima donna rock star idiot type.

I love this board.

The dialogue style that Millar uses in Tooth which seldom worked because the rest of the story was poorly thought out can be seen in the Ultimates which has a really good back story and is cracking from beginning to end.

Red Son was the least Millar like story he has written. Probably why it is so good.

And as for Civil War. It pretty OK as storeys go and I can even forgive the bit where the Punisher whacks those Villains. However, to have the main plot device to be about weather heroes should be controlled and licensed like that and Iron man becoming almost an Orwellian dictator and for Cap and his supporters to take such a (IMHO correct) stand against some pretty dodgy actions by Stark and co AND THEN HAVE THEM TELEPORT RIGHT IN TO THE MIDDLE OF NEW YORK AND START FIGHTING! Was the biggest Shark jumping event in comicâ??s recent history and is why I will never read any Millar stuff out side of the stuff I now have.

Ohhh I seeeeee. up to speed now.

Meh! Oh well. didnt really talk to Philt any hoo. seemed IMHO like he would pick a argument in an empty room. and not in a cool or at least amusing way like Jonny Eyebrows or Funt Solo do either.

And not as well meaning in a random way as Peter Wolf or my self

Does this mean we are not allowed to slag off Big Dave or Mark Millar any more?

I may be being a bit thick here but the latest prod didnt have Revere, Finn or Wireheads in it.

Oh never mind. I liked the Prog in question so I will go and comment in the thread in question.

Prog / Re: Prog 1587: Zarjaz!

Ok hat in ring

Dredd- nice is cryptic start to this little outing. crackling artwork by Mr Elson after the brilliant run Mr Taylor (of which we need more please). story is ok so far but I am remembering an Anderson tale long ago with aliens needing salt and some such where Dredd was involved. bit of dejavu?

10 seconders- missed most of this first time round but I like it. the idea Art is a little late 90s but still works so far

Dead Eyes- This is more the kind of thing I would expect from Mr Mills pen when he is on a winning streak. Mr Smith is on to a winner. best writing from him in a while and I can follow the plot with out getting A) completely lost B) utterly bored. art is brilliant

Dead Signal- Mmmm kinda by the numbers as far as the plot goes. the whole â??confuse the assassins reality thing to control him or is it really a dreamâ?? has been done, a lot. but it at least is well written so I will follow the plot to the end (it seems like more of a long future shock, like the plot outline has been given to the writer too make in to a story) art on the other hand has a new and different feel to PJH is really pushing him self. even if his monitor was wonky it looks all moody and cool.

bit of bad news: Defoe is back soon. which is a shame. I did enjoy the recent Savage as I felt the writing had a fresh feel to it and Mr Mills didnâ??t conform to the tedious attempt at being 'down with the future/zombie/hippy loving kids' and overly and desperately action packed his writing has suffered from badly of late. Defoe the most recent and greatest example.

1586 was the best prog this year so 1587 was always going to be a bit of an anti climax but it will tide me over till the 2008 summer offensive starts. Although the tattooed guy on the cover looks like one of the Chaps Dredd met on the Judge Child Mission. You know that collector bloke.
