General / Extreme 2000AD Invasion
10 March, 2004, 02:34:40 AM
I just bought this - mistakenly actually, I assumed it was Rogue Trooper from the cover. What a pile of crap - this is the worst story I've ever read - a lorry driver with no miltitary training taking on a whole army with just a shotgun and winning? He even meets up with John Lennon and gets a guitar that shoots bullets. Utter garbage. If this is the level of the Extreme editions I won't be buying any more (please don't tell me how old the story is - I know that, it's no excuse).

I'm surprised people liked the art in "Master's Moves" - I thought it was horrendous. Between that and the Cookie thing I thought I'd been sent Whizzer and Chips instead of the Meg.

I was drunk when I read that book last night, maybe that's why I enjoyed it and you all thought it was shite. Maybe you should all get some beers and read it again!

General / Helter Skelter - RUINED YA FECKERS!
06 March, 2004, 03:31:13 AM
I just got the Dredd graphic novel "Helter Skelter" and as I've never read the story before was looking forward to reading it. Unfortunately, the crappy "background info" pages of the book ruined the story for me by telling me that Cal was back, so when the "mystery" Chief Judge appears I bloody knew exactly who it was! Cheers for ruining the feckin story ya bastages! Still, it was an excellent, though FAR too short story.

Cheers

I was a member but to be perfectly honest, you'd be as well just getting your books from Amazon. The SF bookclub is okay but you often end up buying things you don't really want just to fulfil your obligation.

I'm from Partick (where Taggart's station was) and I can assure you it's "murdur".
And Taggart's been crap since Mark McManus died.

AH a link - no I didn't I'll give it a try, but I've got a crappy slow modem so I might not get to watch it before the film comes out!

What are you talking about? Is there a new movie I haven't heard about? I love all the King Arthur stuff, and Excalibur is a great film.

This makes me realise how bloody stupid some of these stories are!

General / Where's the Judge Child now?

He must still be out there somewhere surely? Has there been a story with him since the Judge Child Quest? If not, there must be one due surely?

Summer is miles and miles away

Anthrax actually released "I Am The Law" as a single and guitarist Scott Ian drew the cover for it - a nice pic of Dredd. I had the picture disc of it and like a dick, sold it for buttons.
And Skid Row have a new album out if anyone's interested although it's meant to be crap and Bach isn't on it.

Ahhh!! I get it, nice contrast there. I had wondered how Cass would get back to the big Meg after it was all over.
Art, love the post - Anderson must have been in plenty coma's over the years - her hair must have been in a pretty bad way after being encased in Boing for so long!
Seriously though - the story is excellent (from what I've seen so far at least) - nice and dark, just how I like 'em.

General / Anderson's hair
22 February, 2004, 04:21:54 AM
I've just started getting the Megazine again, after a break of 12 years or so from 2000AD etc and I'm well pleased with this issue of the Meg. However, and this has probably been discussed before - what's the story with Anderson's hair?! Short, cropped, boyish black hair instead of the lush, blonde locks I remember? Why? Is it an attempt to make things more gritty (because everyone knows blondes don't exist in Real Life right?)?

That sounds pretty great! It'll confuse people who watched the films before without reading any of the comics, but I'm sure it'll be an excellent movie.
