Bou, I understand your obsession. I think it must be a genetic thing. As a youth I furnished whole houses from skips out of necessity, nowadays I'll still spend ages converting some chunk of shite to do a job even when I've got the dosh to just buy the right fecking bit anyway! I've currently got about 4 tonnes of stone and timber stacked outside , scrounged from work 'cos it will "come in handy one day". Plants in the garden grow in stainless steel washing machine drums for that trendy industrial look :) Parts on my bike are still made from ally offcuts hoarded from when I used to work at a metal fabricators. I've got to admire your dedication though, taking a can-opener to a copper cylinder is certainly no mean feat of alternative engineering! Bizarrely we're actually PC nowadays though- saving the planet and all that!
