I have a TARDIS.

And a cloning machine. There are actually four of me. At any one time there is one eating, one sleeping, one drawing and one sat on the sofa scratching his arse watching telly

I used to live in Billingham on Teeside with ICI on one side, and the crisp factory on the other.
I still can't help think of those halcyon days of my childhood whenever I get a waft of cheese and onion!

Help! / Re: weekend in the Toon - suggestions?

Well if Svens ain't your thang, try Travelling Man (and a few doors along, Forbidden Planet) on Grainger St. About 2 mins walk from the rail station.

Centre for Life has a Doctor Who props exhibition this summer

The Lit and Phil Society has an exhibition of original Viz artwork on display, with Q & A sessions with current artists planned, and a talk-in with Simon Donald entitled "How to become rich and famous by being foul mouthed and abusive"

Visit the Tyneside Cinema near monument metro for a nostalgic 1920's trip to the cinema (art deco auditorium, leather armchairs and free newsreels)

You could try ringing the university for rooms - I think they rent out student accommodation during the summer. They certainly do when the Great North Run is on.

Live bands at The Cluny or Head of Steam pubs in the evening, or on Sunday afternoon at The Tyne bar down by the river

And of course there are three thousand bars around town - just make sure you wear a black and white striped top if it's match day! (Call everyone pet if you want to blend in)

I'm pretty sure Locust and Jim could cope with that, it's just me who would let the side down with that schedule  ;)

My dad was a huge comics fan so I had most of mine bought for me in the 70's and early 80's - the likes of Battle, Victor, 2000AD and Eagle. The first comic I really shelled out for on a regular basis was Warrior. I never really got into US comics until the late 80s by which time I was working and bought stuff like Hellblazer, Marvelman and way too much other stuff

Books & Comics / Re: More Moore?

Yeah, get yourself on ebay and buy back issues of Warrior for Marvelman and Lazer Eraser and Pressbutton by Moore. There's tonnes of other brilliant stuff in there which any serious comics fan needs to read - you won't be disappointed.

I love Zenith - one of my favourites from over the years - I will now have to go back and re-read them all

Although reading these explanations has made my brain hurt

Apologies for only showing the centre of this painting but I don't have an A3 scanner

Done just for the hell of it, I thought I'd start a series of paintings of Herge characters. Captain haddock next, then the Thompson twins, and finally Tintin. (guoache on board, for those interested in such things)

Classifieds / Marvelman page for sale
28 July, 2010, 07:03:47 AM
A bit beyond my means at the moment, but Dez Skinn is flogging a page of Marvelman from Warrior #3 via facebook

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Miracleman-originally-Marvelman/17052575899

It's on auction with a starting price of 200 quid, but even if you can't afford a bid, it will be worth watching to see what it goes for!

Are Jikan's new friends all that they seem? Part nine of the time travelling, demon hunting Japanese warrior's new story is up on the blog...

As always, script by Locust of Death, art by DaveyCandlish, and lettering by Jim Campbell

Some of that seems strangely familiar...

What a damned fine idea.
Count me in to chip in for this!

And I second the idea of something for Carlos
Of course, if we start awarding the Greats, shouldn't John Wagner be one of the first, too?
