True Usher,I remember Terry Pratchett arguing that sports fans are no different than geeks, just their obbsesion is cooler, and no doubt it spans to all other things that are often trivial (obviously not always cf. humantarian and politics in general)I think it makes sense if you go back to prehistoric times, if your caveman isn't completely obssessed with hunting (best tatics to use when hunting different animals in different terrain) there'd be no tea (likewise fruit and nut gathers would need to know what was posionus and what was not, and where and when to find the stuff)
