I reluctantly stayed away from the Kickstarters as postage to Oz has gone through the roof these last few years. So I'm really chuffed about this.

Strange as it may seem there are squaxx
on social media who do ask for Friday to be reprinted. Nineties kids & Rogue Trooper obsessives one would think.  This way Rebellion can do that without be lumbered with a warehouse full of unsold copies. 

I'm not a fan of generic Dredd covers because after a while variations of Dredd pointing Lawgiver & Dredd riding Lawmaster all begin to look the same.

This, however, is a thing of great beauty.

I don't frequent any facebook groups so I'm not aware of the griping, but I don't get people who don't just move on from things they grow out of or don't like anymore. Until recently I hadn't bought 2000ad for about 20 years. At no time during those 20 years did I find myself seething with anger over any perceived betrayal by Tharg for me losing interest in his output.

Possibly because you're not part of a comics podcast & don't rely on stirring the pot to generate views?

Excellent point, Alex. The Meg in its current format certainly has the page count to carry the ratio between top tier thrills & new creators learning the ropes. Would we have had Nikolai Dante & Shakara without Shimura, Brit Cit Brute, Lawman of the Future & Sumos and Sporrans first?

Given the recent success of The Darkest Judge & 2000AD vs Battle Action it makes sense to go down this route.

It might have come down to Alec Worley going, "Ooo gives us a go! Gives us a go!" & Tharg thought, "Let's run it in the prog & see what happens."

Feral & Foe & Kingmaker have proven that there is room in the line up for a fantasy strip that isn't Slaine.

So this Hawk thing is Hawk the Slayer, yeah? I know Garth Ennis wrote a limited edition series but it seems like a strange thing to go into the prog.

Which suggests to me that the trade collection may have sold well but not the invididual issues of the original comic.

It's definitely more at home in the prog than the Dreddworld remit of the Meg.

Bolland posted that comment in a discussion about 2000AD annuals.

Mike Carroll has mentioned on Facebook that Book V is the final series. So given the new end date of 2025 Tharg might be able to squeeze the entirety of Proteus Vex into the UC.
