Messages - O Lucky Stevie!

#1801
Tordelback, are you suggesting that we should relegate the Late Heavy Bombardment the same realm of disinformation as female ejaculation?

That the Americans have thawed the head of Werner Von Braun to launch redemptive strikes against the Selenites for stealing Al Bundy's socks?

Guess that means Obama will be having to hand back that Nobel Peace Prize then.

Website and Forum / Re: Ordering from the online shop

On a slight tangent here -- what sort of packaging does the online shop use for trades? Cardboard or jiffies?

Just a quick heads up:

Stevie's experience ran parallel to Grant's so I shan't repeat it here.

However I did ask about the packaging, to which I received this reply:

"Packaging depends on the book ordered , the vast majority will be sent out in padded jiffy bags, larger items will be sent out in boxes.
"However, we do our up most to ensure that all of our orders arrive in pristine condition, and package all items as best we can to ensure that they arrive in excellent shape."

So yes David, looks like the jiffy bags are the new thing.

Too right!!! Stevie punched the sky in the middle of his comic shop when he saw this.

Grant -- are you ordering Tale of the Deadman from Charlies Chapters?

but I think that one's appreciation of his work changes when you realize that he's actually a travel writer.

Rightyo, All tomorrow's parties & burning chrome didn't do it for me but I'll keep that in mind

Welcome to Stevieworld, Cosh

Stevie's entire epidermis is a single goosebump -- thanks guys.

Anybody got any links to the camera films from those captured V2s that the Americans launched from White Sands after the war?

Those are my favourite pieces of footage EVER.

Halfway through The Difference Engine which is thrumming along very nicely. Stevie's long rated Sterling but may need to reassess my opinion on that cove Gibson. Mallory's encounter with Hetty is an especially incisive piece of writing -- both tender & poignant.

It's the beginning of the end.

Funnily enough, that was exactly how it felt here in South Australia. We bore the brunt of the cold front which drove the dust storm before it in its trans-continental bow wave.

Sydney was spindizzied all the way to Mars whilst Adelaide was merely subjected a Deluge of Biblical proportions.

But hey, at least our ancestors weren't transported for interfering with a loaves of bread  ;)

Really? Stuff that's not on the rerelease of Quique?

You betcha Cosh.

Lookee here http://warp.net/records/warp20/warp20-box-set-first-tracklistings-confirmed

Their cover of 'Acrobat' by Maximo Park is also available separately on http://warp.net/records/releases/various-artists/warp20-recreated

Whilst we're talking Warp, the following news vaulted Stevie into the exact same realm of delight as small children are by an especially wobbly jelly http://warp.net/records/broadcast/new-mini-album-broadcast-and-the-focus-group-investigate-witch-cults-of-the-radio-age-out-now-to-download

Bookwise, Ï was just about to embark upon Paul MacAuley's The Quiet War until learning that there is a sequel; so shall hold off until I can read both together.

I've delved instead into the geological strata of my To Read pile & surfaced with The Difference Engine. Only 20 pages in but Sterling & Gibson have done a topnotch job of worldbuilding & introducing Our Protagonist so no complaints thus far.

Finished "Transition", loved it. If you're a fan of Banks, it's a good one.

Bah -- gonna have to wait another week or so until Bleep.com charges Stevie's Warp20 boxset* what he pre-ordered before he can think about the Banksy.

*2 new Seefeel cuts hot ding!!!  ;D

That one.

Oyeah --with Mike White on art. Eureka?

Stevie's own glorious memetic plague FS back in the 1990s was scuttled by his sudden remembering that one.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a FS about mobile phones taking over the world for instance.

That'll be Neil Gaiman & John Hiclenton You're never alone with a phone back in prog 488
