Not sure why given that FCBD has never been offered to subscribers at any level.

Because the entire point of FCBD is to get people to go into comic shops...? That's literally the reason it exists — if you can get a copy without going into a comic shop, it defeats the purpose of supporting FCBD in the first place.

Not to mention the fact that FCBD books are by FCBD themselves, not the participating publishers such as Rebellion.

I think he was replying to the previous post, hence the "given that..."

My point was an observation on the apparent overlap on the Venn diagram containing sets of those subscribers who decry, "Why don't subscribers receive the FCBD special?" & those who bemoan, "Why is my subscription being used to subsidise four Regened progs a year?"

Next year they ought not to have any cause to bemoan FCBD, will they?  😉

Personally, I think that the choice of going with Regened for FCDB 2023 is a brilliant idea.

When Slaine is good it is brilliant. But it ain't no Nemesis the Warlock.

It took Stevie nigh a decade of reading the prog for John & Carlos's other signature character, Old Stony Face, to click with him. Yet Strontium Dog won him over in about 4 or 5 pages.

Strontium Dog it is.

Giving the creators the rights to Big Dave to Morrison, Parkhouse & Millar also released Fleetway from any obligation to publish the completed strip Sharon's Big Night Out that was deemed too offensive for the Sci Fi Special.

It's curious how, when Pat began collaborating with an actual practioner of magick, the occult elements in the strips became so mundane. Tony Skinner was no Alan Moore or Grant Morrison. The Ickean stuff feels like low-hanging fruit  & as such a poor substitute for the Cythron cosmology of Slaine. The whole thing is achingly adolescent.

And XTNCT + the less memorable Pan-African Judges

Yes! TBH, I was just thinking of what he'd done since becoming far better known as a Dr Who writer.

I bet that he's relieved that nobody recalls Blackadder Deathwatch in the Meg.

Suggestions / Re: Zip Nolan's genes?

Does Stevie remember Zip Nolan? Absolutely. Being the least fantastical strip in Lion, it was resolutely little Stevie's least favourite.

Give it a regened, Mega-City reboot, you say? From the perspective of an older squaxx: sounds fun so yes please! Make the cadets clone sisters for the win.

A reprint of the original to allow a reappraisal wouldn't go astray either.

Blimey. Talk about thing that a squaxx hasn't thought about since the 1970s. It's not a strip that looms as large in memory of this avid Lion reader as Adam Eterno, Mowser, Robot Archie, Spellbinder, The Steel Commando, personal favourite Sark the Sleeper, or the dreaded Zip Nolan. What does spring in mind is that neither Dort nor any of his titular 10,000 disasters felt sufficiently sfnal to hold this five year old's attention. But then again, both Invasion & Dredd were subsequently met with similar disinterest.

Art by Jose Ortiz? SOLD.

That would be the Battle Action annual that is slated for September.
