Messages - O Lucky Stevie!

Does apply Godwins Law still apply if you compare yourself to Hitler?

Stop being so needy Matt.

When you find yourself in no great rush to open that whopping parcel you've brought home from the comics shop if you've neither meg or prog to read first.

No matter where you are in the world, when entering a newsagent or magazine shop, you check the shelves- just in case.

SBT

We even pursue progs through the nocturnal newsies of our dreams.

Oh yes. Absolutely.

'Chasm City', by Alastair Reynolds.

About 600 pages in Reynolds repeats the same word twice in a paragraph.

Other than that it's flawless.

I think the more recent Dredd arcs might be a bit boring for younglings, but then again I'm reading the machinations as an adult so I can't say for certain. Of the current or very recent line up I think AoTW, Flesh, Zaucer of Zilk, Absolam, Cadet Anderson etc I would have lapped up as a child.

M.

Stevie's got a confession to make.

As a child Dredd was his least favourite thrill in the prog. He had a silly name, a prepostorous uniform, an unbearably babyish twee robot for a sidekick & no spaceships, time travel nor other planets.

In his 8 year old eyes Joe was just another cop.

In no shape or form could it possibly compete with Bellardinelli's face-meltingly high concept Dan Dare or the primal majesty of Flesh

So we've narrowed the choice down to Mike Fleisher, Mark Millar & Alan Craddock then  eh?  ;)

old one eye would be my second choice and both only lasted one or two series before their ticket got punched and that's why i like them so much  :D

Wait wait wait wait WAIT!

Surely Old One Eye qualifies as the heroine?

Stevie's pick is
Howler.

EDIT: beaten to the punch by vzzbzz. Again.
It's actually a joke involving a couple of illustrious Scottish comic writers who owe a lot of their ideas to a certain "Brendan".

Iis there any other?  ;)

Plus that'd be the story that prompted young Stevie to praise your prose as "Ray Bradbury on heroin"* in a letter to the Command Module.

*Stevie did say that that he was young at the time.

s the use of 'piercing beam(s) of ... highly directional, ... deafening sound (at) levels of 150 decibels'.

My Mum's got something similar that stops cats shiteing in her flower borders.

FAIREST #3 Preview (good series so far. More Fables is always good)

Stevie will defo be picking up the second arc of this.

2011 Arthur C. Clarke Award Winner Lauren Beukes is writing that.

Hmmm. Wonder how that came about then eh?

Snut! JB Hi Fi --the cheaper music retail alternative here in Auxtralia-- are gouging peeps Au$30.99 for the standard edition & Au$35.99 for the special edition cd:

Which is pretty snecking steep considering that most other Invada releases range from Au$17.99 to Au$24.99:.

Boca 45: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/support.aspx?post=1&results=10&q=boca+45&source=all*

*Boca's Jukebox wasn't an Invada release.
