When trying on a pair of shoes in a shop you growl to the shop assistant: "The older I get the tighter I wear 'em" (not true).

Someone or something winds you up and you say to yourself: "Number four cartridge".

You prepare to carve the Sunday roast and shout out: "Boot knife!"

Side note on the theme of money: I find US artist Boggs fascinating. He creates pieces of art based on dollar bills. Collectors pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for his work. Boggs goes to stores and rather than use dollar bills he offers to swap his art for goods. He's not using his art as counterfeit dollar bills but is swapping it. If people accept they can make a heck of a lot of profit if they sell on to a collector. I saw a programme once in which he swapped some of his art for a Harley Davidson bike. As expected, he is viewed with suspicion by the authorities and has been arrested a number of times in various countries – including the UK where Bank of England notes were apparently redesigned because of his antics.

I was a big fan of the Professionals as well. A lot of it was filmed in my neighbourhood. One episode has sequences filmed on the road where I am living at the moment and in my junior school. My sister was one of the goody goody school kids selected as extras and she can be seen walking away fron the camera up the stairs in the background. I keep on meaning to see if that episode is online and doing a screen grab.

Thanks maryanddavid.

I am just so glad not to live in flats anymore. Don't know who were worse: the tight landlords of the other flats who didn't want to spend a penny on keeping the building / communal areas in good order or the majority of tenants who were completely inconsiderate in just about every way imaginable.

Help! / Re: Should I sign up to Spotify?

Have you tried the free version of Spotify? I think the current version is excellent. It's given me some pretty good music recommendations. I haven't taken the plunge and gone for a paid version though.

I love Henry Flint's design for this character.

That's great news Banners. Possibly the best news possible.

My good news is we finally have ourselves our own house. Haven't moved in yet. Rather scary as it needs a lot of work, which will have to be done over years. But relieved we finally did it.

Flash Gordon. Well, not all of it, but the bits I like, I like a lot.

Someone close to me has existed under most of the bad conditions described above for a very long time. Fair to say he was in an abusive relationship. We could see it was bad but I'm not sure just how much he saw it himself. Things came to a head and he gets it now. Being on the receiving end can become the norm, which is sad. Anyway, things should be finishing up for them soon.

Off the top of my head I can think of five fellas I know who have other halves who I liken to Panzer tanks with busted brakes. I mean, talk about no retreat. Just unbelievable.

Ah, I see what you mean CFX.

These are from the fine free magazine Your days are numbered. The editor at large JTS posted here recently. http://forums.2000adonline.com/index.php?topic=39462.0. We were all a little bit rude and didn't respond – well, those of us who read his post.

I think I picked this copy up from Orbital. (There a copy in the Cellar as I gave one Commando Forces.)

Check out this Dredd helmet and badge text layout.

And how's this for a colophon?

Here is the cover with the Toni Masdiono illustration.

We're about commercial art as well on this thread of course.

If you've not all seen it there's a great (terrible) film version staring George Peppard (I think) and that bloke what was off of Airwolf (I think). It all there on Youtube and good heartly fun (nonsense)...

I remember seeing this in my school days on tv and the next day we were talking about how bad it was and how the wheels on their Landraider type vehicle were ridiculous. Just had a quick look at that link and strangely enough it seems very watchable. But still crap.

The rather marvellous PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCAST at the Oran Mor last night.  Fantastic stuff from truly talented musicians.  Sampletastic!
Nice one. I've posted stuff about them on this thread, but thought I must be the only one around here into them. I'm seeing them week after next.
