Meanwhile on Sauropod Vertebra Picture of the Week dino nerds are getting their vertebrae in a twist over:

"2000 AD's flagrantly plagiarised Brontosaurus"
"Like the recent Compsognathus, this is a card from the "Flesh" card-game that was printed across several progs (issues) of the comic 2000 AD in 1977. This one is from the back cover of Prog 10. (Click through the picture for the whole back cover.)

What's interesting about this one is how very flagrant a rip-off it is of Rudolph Zallinger's 1960 painting of Brontosaurus being attacked by Allosaurus:"

My beef (or Flesh) with that card game is that I destroyed several good progs for it including IIRC that episode of a helmetless Dredd.

And if that's not enough, poor 2000AD gets outnerded for not sticking to the source material:

Youtubers are paying customers. They got a right to complain.

Well, he's meant to be a Judge but he's obviously a jimp, given his name badge has his Christian name rather than his surname, and he's got writing on his glove.
Jewish name, surely? Well old English to be precise. I'm never sure how people of non-Christian origin feel about their names being referred to as Christian. Not that Stan the Man would read this thread and be offended. Apologies for my threadjacking and pedantry.

Enjoyable stuff. I can't begin to imagine the amount of hard work that must've gone into it.

Nothing wrong with a bit of location shooting in Amsterdam. ;)

Look forward to seeing how this progresses.

I reckon the Venetians of the 16th century copied Nemesis.

Guys, guys, it's 'collectable action figure character replica sculpts' or something like that.

"Toys?" What is the world going to think about us?

Just had a quick look on Issuu and it looks amazing. Will download later.

How it saddens me I don't have time to participate with this kind of stuff.

Interesting tale CF. I thought the Arthur Ranson cover was the only cover of 1159. Pretty sure that is the one I have.

Must say I never have and probably never will buy a variant cover. I can just about get my head around why someone would want the various versions, say, if they really liked the art. Each to their own of course.

But a cover being collectable because it doesn't have a barcode?  :o

Well done everyone. That was a pretty difficult brief and everyone who entered came up with the goods. My master stroke came to me this morning on the way to work.

The three winners were as I called them.

Bear in mind that when a T-shirt appears at prices over £15 or so, there is a chorus of "it's too expensive". Adding prints all over the show would not only be garish but make for an expensive product.

I prefer plain and simple which in my opinion is good design most of the time.

Everyone is exposed to design so can't see why comic fans would have better design sense than anyone else.

The Justice Department logo is in my opinion a cool design and there is nothing wrong with sticking that on the front of a T-shirt in my book. Even though we have seen the graphic rather than how it sits on the T-shirt.

I'm sitting here at someone else's desk and he has left out an 'Art of the band T-shirt' book full of classic designs from Sex Pistols, Public Enemy, Run DMC etc. All are just prints on the front and all look v good. That is the classic look of printed Ts.

Agree with Steve's comments.  I prefer a T-shirt that relates to the film and sells rather than something obscure that tickles the nerd nerve but doesn't sell. By that I mean a T-shirt with an in joke that relatively few people will understand and even fewer people would buy.

And totally agree with Richmond.

What's the verdict chaps on the Last Exit to Nowhere Dredd T-shirt design?

I really like it. I'm not usually keen on comic themed T-shirts and usually only wear them to comic events but I could see myself wearing this out and about.

Reminds me of the Ramones logo.
