What brush pen do you use? I use a Pentel brush pen and I have found that with some practice you can get a really fine line, even on A4.
Thanks Mardroid and Steven Austin.

I did that last one with a Pentel brush pen and tidied up some lines on computer. I'm happy with it when inking close ups but not so keen on it for detailed stuff. Not sure if I need to hold it more upright. Or maybe I need to try working on larger paper. I find the tip clogs up quite easily and won't draw very fine lines. Once it's cleaned that's half a cartridge of ink gone.

I've bought just about every black pen available but end up using rollerball pens quite often as I like the resistance. I want to try brushes and ink which I used to prefer years ago and also want to try nibs.

Are your comic pages inked with brush pen, Steve? They look great BTW.

Well done to all and to CFM for making it happen.

Wow... nothing like a droid's seal of approval!

Look forward to the next comp.

Had a bit of a struggle with this months art comp. I tidied up my sketch, printed it in blue line on bristol board, inked it. Was happy with it, scanned it and then felt the inks lost sharpness. I think my brush pen is just too thick for that kind of drawing on A4.

I really must make a concerted effort to start on the art comps earlier. Always feel I need to finish and then revisit with fresh eyes.

I enjoy doing the looser stuff but every once in a while I like to try the tighter stuff. Anyway...

Hope things come together for you Hawkmonger. Sometimes we have to listen to our instincts and not pursue something if it just doesn't feel like it's the right thing to do. Sounds like you have a plan to keep busy which is very important. Good luck with it all.

Meg is very strong at the moment. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I usually dip in and out of reading it but read the whole thing almost in one go. Some cracking Dredd panels by PJ. Underbelly excellent. Ordinary fantastic. Beyond Zero as someone (I think) said earlier is like a great B-movie. Caused me a few laugh out louds.

If you're climbing the branches of Nirvana's rock family tree, you'll want to have a listen to The Raincoats too, Supersoaker. t=12m18s]KICK OUT THE JAMS MOTHERFUCKER[/glow]
Thanks Saucy, will check your links out.

Anyone watch the Pixies on the iTunes festival? Would've liked to have gone to that. I've seen them three times. One review said something was missing but sounded pretty good to me. Go to the iTunes store and you can watch it for free.

Am looking forward to seeing these fellas in November: http://publicservicebroadcasting.net. I will be finishing a big project a few days before so will be great to go to the gig and relax. Check out the Spitfire video. "A bird that breathes out fire and spits out death and destruction".

Paper progs for me. Not ready to go digital though the ever growing mountain of comics can't go on increasing forever. And that's with me rarely buying anything other than 2000AD material nowadays.

I tried resisting buying 2000AD trades but they are so good I can't resist. I don't have a hope in hell of wading though my comics to re-read so I'm enjoying revisiting Dredd and other strips through the Case Files.

Reading comics on my phone has been a good way to find out about other comics but is a chore due to the small screen. I am yet to get the iPad mini I won recently so look forward to reading more digital on that.

So I guess it's a case of all of the above.

I must order that as well as some other small press comics I've seen online.

Great cover.

Last time I was in Amsterdam (about two years ago) I visited Lambiek, a comic shop which has been around since 1968. Main attraction was a massive display with lots of point of sale material for Slaine. Should've taken a photo. I did see a Dutch copy of America which was misplaced in the Simon Bisley section.

When I lived in Holland it was quite normal to see a pile of European graphic novels in friends houses. Stuff like Blueberry.

I worked with a guy over there who was a massive 2000AD fan. That was about 20 years ago.

Sure is a big un. Will have to it buy once I've moved. Regret not going to the talk at Gosh a couple of weeks ago, especially as Brett Ewins was there.

Hi El Chivo

I think the term now is 'join' Photoshop CC. £17.58 per month inc VAT on a one-year or month-to-month plan.

You can purchase by phone according to that link.

Think I will stick to CS5 for a while.

I recently stumbled across Meat Puppets online and have been playing tons of their tunes which are on their official website. I hadn't heard of them. A lot of really good stuff there.

Also been listening to Vaselines. Fantastic band. I had an Indie compilation album back in the 90s and a standout track was by a band called Captain America who renamed as Eugenius because they had Marvel on their case. As if that wasn't enough their logo was based on that of C&A (are you listening Jazus B?). They had a stonkingly good track 'Flame on' (another comic reference there) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekve0jtVmsg. The main man then became part of The Vaselines. They had a great track called 'Let's Get Ugly' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf9BmsbE2mg which reminds one of the dearly departed Otto Sump.

How's that for copyright infringement:

Shame as it was recalled.
