Nintendo have said that they're not trying to make the Revolution the most powerful console out there.  They're apparently trying to encourage cheaper, innovative gaming and  while other consoles pecome more powerful and multi-functional.  It could turn out to be a huge gamble.
Of course now two huge megacorps like Sony and Microsoft are in the gaming arena unfortunately it's looking more and more like Nintendo don't really have the resources to compete with them in the home console market so they're trying to create their own niche.

There was another article on IGN where they interviewed representatives from a load of 3rd party publishers.  They all seemed very impressed and excited about the innovation of the Revolution controller but whether they're prepared to spend actual money on potentially Nintendo exclusive titles to utilize it remains to be seen.

Personally I can't wait to get my hands on one of those controllers and find out what it actually plays like.

Given all the hype, planning and strategic marketing that goes into a console launch nowadays it's suspiciously conveniant that there always seems to be a shortage when launch day arrives.

Surely they've got estimates as to how many units they're likely to sell at launch and know how much time they need to produce them.  Unfortunately they always seem to be "surprised" by demand.

I did get a 360 on launch day but had unplanned expenses elsewhere which meant I couldn't actually afford to keep it and pay the rent.  None of my friends wanted it so it got ebayed.

Reading what some owners of the 360 are having problems with, it appears that the power supply *is* the problem, it being that it doesn't like being put on the carpet.

Gamecubes seemed to suffer the same problem when they were released as well.
It could be some kind of static build-up maybe - my 'cube will die fairly quickly if it's directly on carpet without appearing to get too hot.

Or a liver transplant recipient who was told they'd die if they continued drinking heavily.

In other sports death news Richard Burns the ex world champion rally driver has died aged 34 after a two year fight against a brain tumor.

I'm pretty sure it's a quote from the bible to do with Jesus rising from the dead.  Something like "death hath no more dominion over him".

It's also the title of a Dylan Thomas poem (dominion, not dumb minions) :).

One that gave me a little smile from the bbc boards after the Aussies qualified for the World Cup yesterday.

Someone asked whether Australians in general had any real interest in football or the result of the game.

An Aussie replied "I've just called my folks back home and they're going buck daft."

"Is no-one playing Civilization IV? Or Hearts of Iron II? "

Playing Civ IV at the moment mixed with Football Manager 2006 and The Movies.

Civilization's as good as always though the maps feel smaller this time round - especially when I've got the Spanish or Russians as neighbours.   They both seem to hate me with a passion no matter which civilization I play as.  Unfortunately it seems to have a memory leak and things can get veerrry slow towards end-game and when your neighbours keep popping up with friendly demands.
They've helpfully included an in-game clock and alarm this time though so you can see exactly how many hours you've been telling yourself "just one more turn".

Anyone played Star Wars Galaxies since it was completely changed?  Tried downloading the demo a couple of times to see how many Jedi wanabees are running around now but it keeps freezing with 20mins left.

The king, nay the Supreme Overlord of football games has returned.

Sensible Soccer 2006 due for release Q2 2006.

Hopefully the gameplay will be more like the original and SWOS than the console sequels which didn't have the same feel but maybe that was because of the joypads.

Now where can I get a good sturdy joystick?  Did Quickshot sticks make the leap to PCs?

X-box 360 box up for sale on ebay.

Just the cardboard box but it's reached ?155 so far.

For a box!?

Is the seller an evil scammer using cunning item descriptions?  Are all the bidders just not reading the description properly or is there really a lucrative trade in empty console boxes out there?

Mostly playing Warhammer 40k: Winter Assault at the moment which is delaying my jump back into World of Warcraft.

Thinking of trying Rag Doll Kung-Fu.

If my tv wasn't knackered I could've also finally got around to playing Resident Evil 4.

True, I'd completely forgotten about the reference to the Anoat system.

That means they travelled from Hoth to Anoat then to Cloud City in Bespin without hyperdrive.  Hope the holo-chess table was working ok.
