If it's got Christian Bale in it then that's good enough for me.

Dr X, I think the point was that she forced Dredd to arrest a judge who he admired and respected. It's similar to what she did in "The Scorpion Dance," when she got DeMarco arrested and demoted just to get at Dredd. And there was always the chance that Kubitts might have killed Dredd.

So, any guesses who will end up on the Council? Giant?

You people must be joking. Blackhawk, Mean Arena and Inferno were some of the worst stories 2000 AD ever printed, ever. No wonder the Extreme Editions didn;t last if they really spent three issues on Mean Arena. When you consider there were 600 or 700+ progs of black-and-white strips to choose from, there was no need to start scraping the barrel so early.

Case Files vol. 3 was a missed opportunity in this regard. Look how thin that volume was compared with all of the others (yet it cost the same). They could have had the entire Judge Child story in that voume instead of in volume 4, or they could have included all the black-and-white annual and special stories, and it would still have only been a modest size.

QuoteIt'd be nice to see Dredd buried in paperwork.

It wouldn't be very interesting though.

The biggest plothole of all:

Last week we found out that Dalek Khan rescued Davros from the Time War, so that Davros could create a new race of Daleks.

This week we now learn that when Khan travelled into the Time War, he saw the whole of Time, and saw how evil the Daleks are, and decided to destroy them. So he didn't warn Davros that the Doctor would win and defeat them.

So why did he bother rescuing Davros in the first place?

Re-writing about two lines of dialogue would have avoided that paradox and come up with some other explanation - if one was even really needed - for why Khan didn't predict the Doctor's victory.

JBC,
Tony Blair didn't commit suicide, he just blew up London. Doesn't mean he was still in London when it happened.

Well said, Larf!

But I've started so I'll finish.

"She came from me" is not an explanation, so right to criticise is retained.

Actually the explanation was:

"Progenation. Reproduction from a single organism. Means one parent is biological mother and father. You take a sample of diploid cells, split them into habloids, then recombine them in a different arrangement and grow... very quickly, apparently."

(Whatever all that means.)

* Why does the 'cloning' produce an opposite gender?

That was explained by the Doctor when it happened. The machine takes your DNA and reassembles it, so as not to create exact duplicates of people. If you don't pay attention, you lose your right to criticise and point out alleged "plot holes."

* Why, when in Confidential it showed the Hath had dialogue, were they silent? It didn't make them creepy, just confusing.

Because the Hath dialogue was rubbish, and they sensibly took it out in post-production.

I assumed Steak Knife was going to turn out to be the stand-up comedian. Never mind.

Really enjoying Dead Signal.

I remember Witch World as being utter rubbish, although I concede that it might turn out to be slightly better if I could be bothered to read it all in one go, which I can't. (Although it had some nice art by John Burns and Will Simpson if I remember correctly.)

Shadows, however, was quite brilliant. Elson's art back then was nothing like it is now, but I don't much care, as it is one of the most underrated stories ever.

I'b buy a Mazeworld graphic novel as well. AT 180 pages it actually isn't too long: the Necropolis graphic novel was longer.

I think that's Holden's best work, and it looks good. Quite a fun story too, and to be honest it makes Sinister Dexter look a bit tired.

Best episode of Tempest yet. I was a bit luke-warm about the whole thing until now, but I really liked the run-through of MC1 history and the character's origins. (Bit unlikely that a kid could teach himself to fight better than someone with 15 years' combat training though.) Looking forward to the next episode, for the first time.

Missing speech bubbles on Bob the Galctic Bum ... can anyone with the original issues fill us in on what we missed?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, it just doesn't look realistic enough for a serious story, it looks like it belongs in a light-hearted or comedy story. It's more the editor's fault for mismatching than the artist's fault. I'd like to see it again on another story, just not this one.
