Love that the bendy straws have come into play!  Used a few of them on Mek-Quake myself.

I'm probaby missing it, but what did you use for the cyclops laser roundels...? They look really cool.

Annoyed I had to miss this one! Looks like a superb turn-out.

I'll catch you all at the next one though!

I don't know if I'd have bothered with The Jungle Book necessarily but the mentions here led me to check it out when I unexpectedly found myself at the cinema. Have to echo all the compliments - it's fast and snappy, doesn't outstay its welcome; a nice bridge between the classic animated Disney adaptation of old and a straight, grown-up adaptation of Kipling's stories. All the best of both worlds. Loved the fact that I knew absolutely nothing about it going in - each and every voice casting was a nice surprise, and it was fun wondering who was going to play each character.

On a related note, King Louis was utterly, utterly terrifying - and I never thought I'd say that! Even singing 'King of the Swingers' doesn't make him any cuddlier.

And it's always worth using the 'preview' button next to 'post' to check whether you've done it right.

Also bizarre that Mills would consider the Bishop/Diggle era the nadir of 2000 AD, given the absolute garbage shat out during the end of Burton's run and almost all through McKenzie's.)

Pat's so keen to avoid accusations of plaigarism that he doesn't actually read the prog (and presumably hasn't for a long while), so he's basing his opinion not on the prog content but solely on his own working relationship with the editors.

Lovely work Jimbo. What did you make the cigar from?

Epoxy putty, same stuff I enlarged his jaw with - it's a bit like working with plasticence, except that it then dries rock-hard.

One thing I would like to have done, if I had the skill and patience: a mouth gun, which pops up and out when you open his mouth. I don't think that would be too difficult, although it would be extremely fiddly. I.e. a bit of tubing for the gun barrel, fixed to a spring mechanism.

D'you know I have thought about that! It's probably the one thing I would try and do if I ever went back to tinkering with him.

Turns out I just could not stop tinkering! So here's Mongrol 2: Time for a stogie...

After all the work I'd done on the big lad's arms, I couldn't help but want to add a little something to his torso, too - so I masked off the chest plate and broke out the paint box.

Since the Warriors returned to Mars, Mongrol hasn't really been Mongrol without a cigar clamped in his mouth, so this was the final little touch to rectify.

And then he really was finished!

Well you'd have to admit it's about the only death scene we haven't speculated about here in the past: "the ambulance Dredd's in just sort of blows up". Not even in the top 20.

The very notion that anyone believes or is supposed to believe that this is the actual death of Dredd... No-one in the story even suggests it is, not even Dredd himself! Editorial and PR are silent, it doesn't even get a cover.  It's a dramatic cliffhanger, the start of a mystery even, and it's a good one.

Well said. The fact that over on FB John Wagner's absolutely got no clue what some squaxx are getting het up about tells a story of its own...

To be honest I was hoping that Flesh had been quietly buried and forgotten by this point. Ho-hum.

Both my younger brothers have started getting grey hairs in their mid-to-late twenties. I've yet to have one and already passed the big 3-0. This is a source of unending hilarity to me.

This is the fifth time Dredd has died, and the strip has crossed over with the Megazine for three other major storylines - mostly under Wagner [1]. Dredd's almost certainly not any more dead than he was the other four times [2].

[2] Judge Child and City of the Damned being actual deaths, involving magic, and the others (Mutie The Pig, Apocalypse War) being fake outs to fool enemies. Guess which category his current spell in the mortuary will be filed under.

I'd say this belongs to a third category of 'Dredd deaths' - fake-outs to fool the reader (in which you could arguably include the Apocalypse War cliffhanger). Notable recent examples include progs 1749 and 1810 - small enough moments in the strip's history that are largely forgotten now, but if you look back at the prog review threads we were all 'Holy shit! Surely not...?'

Cor! Love that Carlos has apparently done an old-school correction by simply sticking a bit of paper over an area he didn't like and drawing it again. Well, I just love that he's still drawing in the real world full-stop!

I can't really afford it, but I'm hoping that it will help with my depression. (having something to do) It will get me out the house even if I just ride the bus and play games :)

If you start delving into the Streetpass/Mii stuff then it definitely will! Plenty of days that I've walked into town or stopped in a coffee shop with my 3DS in my pocket, just to see if I get any hits - when otherwise I would probably have just ended up staying inside all day.

Anybody interested in starting the Official 2000AD Online R.P.G. Club .....
There's also... Slaine games out there...

Now you've done it!  :o

In the imminent face of impossibly long, rambling posts about the Slaine RPG, might this not be a good time to split all the RPG posts off into a seperate thread, and keep this one just for board games?
