Quote from: "DomReardon"The person who did this may well have been encouraged by others who have expressed their dislike of the story overzealously.

I hate to say it, but it does sound as though this mentalist chap has deluded himself into thinking that, because a lot of negative opinions have been expressed online, his opinion has somehow been validated. Shame he couldn't see the the line between comments about a creator's work, however inelegantly expressed, and personal attacks on a creator.

Also sounds a bit like sour grapes to me, Tony - I suspect this is a slush-pile reject of long standing who's got things out of all proportion.

I'm pretty sickened - gobsmacked, actually - to think that the sort of chap who would do something like that reads 2000AD. I'm not the biggest fan of Stalag, but... Jeeeez. What's wrong with some people?

I feel ashamed on behalf of the readership.

Gotta be Torque.

At the end of the day, Death genuinely thinks he's doing good work - he sees himself as a lone prophet soldiering on against a tide of iniquity and crime. Torque's just a triple-hard bastard, consumed by irrational, seething hatred against anyone who doesn't think like him. Death looks for the quickest, most direct means of getting the job done; Torque revels in thinking up all manner of gruesome tortures. Death isn't looking for power or glory; Toruqe wants the Universe on a plate.

No contest.

Apoligies to James for hijacking his thread, but I'm also trying to have a clear-out and if anyone in the south of England (Southampton way) fancies any of this lot, let me know.

I've got progs 1212 - present and Megs volume 4.01 to present (although the Meg run starts to get a little gappy round about the time the Charley's War reprints ended, not sure what issues eactly.)

If you don't mind collecting them they can be yours for nowt!

Quote from: "Mardroid"I'm probably missing something though, I'm off to wiki to read up on the Red Seas.

I wouldn't bother, frankly. The Red Seas wiki entry reads like it was written by a five year old. Half the characters aren't even listed, those that are are missing surnames and any sort of decent biography, and the series descriptions are nonsensical.

For instance - Hnau is a sort of giant ball but with all the character's faces molded onto it.

Yeah, thanks for that. Very helpful.

Didn't I hear somewhere that you could edit Wikipedia? How does that work?

Mine came Thursday.

I like it better than the last series of mugs - it holds more tea!

Quote from: "dandontdare"Oh dear - the worst Dredd for a long long time:

and the art by Smudge was workmanlike at best.

Well, I liked it, so there! I've long thought there was a potential for some steam-powered villians to appear in Mega-City One. Mills also wisely keeps Dredd himself very much on the margins to avoid that whole sticky wicket of 'does he get the character?', making it another of those 'cits of the Meg' tales. Barmy concept, well realised, entertainingly told.

And describing the art as 'workmanlike at best' is a bit of a disservice, frankly, IMO. Not too sold on Smudge's Judges but there are some cracking character designs and a lot of dynamism.

As always, I can't help but wonder how this tale would have been recieved were there someone else's name on the credit box. A lot of folks try so hard not to like Mills (not specifically you, Dan) that objectivism usually goes entirely out the window.

So exciting, and yet... so baffling.

Either way I'm still looking forward eagerly to prog 1610 to make light of this, so job done!

I wish I had digital - Oh Mister Porter! is on BBC4, a film that can still match the likes of Dog Soldiers for quotable lines seventy-one years on.

Yes that's what I thought (although that episode was before my time with the prog.)

This is normally the point where I'd be helpful and explain exactly what happened, but the truth is I didn't really understand it even at the time. Something to do with a martian hive-mind, an angel and an angry witch.

Quote from: "Mardroid"Red Seas:  I loved this episode! Pirates with super-powers... nice.
By the way, can't the captain turn into a big metal thing T1000 type thing too or is that another character? I remember a character doing that in the WW2 strip.
That story you're thinking of is set after this one. So Dancer will one day end up that way, and we may see how, but not yet.

Except it wasn't Jack Dancer, it was Jim Salt, and we already saw how he ended up that way - a series of two before the WWII one, in fact.

Do keep up, people!
