Messages - Dark Jimbo

STIX - Genuinely chilling chappies. Why Ush thinks they're comedy villians I don't know!

TOMAS DE TORQUEMADA - But of course. A villian so luminously manic, so insane, so magnificent he carries the series over and above a hero who remains aloof and shadowy.

TSAR VLADIMIR MAKAROV - What a bastard.

CHIEF JUDGE CAL - Fish! Kleggs! Bad poetry! Mind fuckery! Judges dressed as little girls! Crazed genius.

PHILLIP JANET MAYBE - PJ's got the charisma that Death just lacks. I know which of the two I'd rather be killed by.

FINK ANGEL - Bowler hats and pizzen rats - a winning combination.

OLD ONE EYE - Grrrrrraargh!!!

MURD THE OPPRESSOR - Wicked McMahon design on a frog with a taste for the dark arts. What more d'you want? Oh, yeah - he killed Judge Dredd!

I'm pretty sure it hovers on the spot, off the ground but low enough for Nemesis and Purity to hop in.

I'll take one off your hands, Button. Want to swap something for it or would you rather I bung a cheque in the post?

Quote from: "Mark Taylor"Couldn't they still keep them part of the case files series by giving them titles along the lines of 'Judge Dredd - Necropolis: The Complete Case Files 14' (or whatever)? They could even put the story title in a much bigger font than the 'Case Files' part of the title if that floats their marketing boat.

Nice idea but a bit late in the day to execute it, perhaps, given that we've already had volumes containing The Cursed Earth, The Day the Law Died, The Judge Child Quest, The Apocalypse War, City of the Damned and Oz, with no special titles.

As I was only planning to collect the Case Files as far as Necropolis anyway, I'm not *too* fussed if this is the end of the series, although I'm hoping for as many prelude and aftermath tales as possible - the nicest thing about the CFs was that you got the epics in context, which makes them a much more satisfying read.

Quote from: "Dark Jimbo"I think Hammers was retconned into being part of General Blood n' Nuts' robot army (remember him, from the Cursed Earth epic?), and after the battle was reprogrammed or something by Justice Department and put up for sale. Doesn't really fit with Ro-Busters continuity, to be honest, but it's a nice little tale.

Stylistically, no. But there's nothing that actually contradicts Ro-Busters continuity, bar the date.

As mentioned previously, the four-part Hammerstein dovetails into the Ro-Busters prologue, with Hammerstein entering a Mega-City One second-hand robot dealership and asking to be sold.

We know from the two-page Ro-Busters prologue in StarLord #1 that Hammer-Stein was army surplus gathering dust in "Flash" Harry Lowder's second-hand robot dealership. A last-minute reprieve by Ro-Busters Ltd. saves Hammer-Stein (and Ro-Jaws) from destruction by Mek-Quake.

Yeah, it's just the whole 'Mega-City one' bit that ruins it for me, because Ro-Busters is so obviously set in near-future Britain.

Quote from: "Proudhuff"Aren't there a couple of postmodernist artists who do this kind of thing but put it around galleries as art?

Not sure if you're joking or not, but I'll bite anyway.

I have to admit, I was too scared to post the answer because I was convinced they must be joshing, waiting to see who got duped.

Well done Cosh for taking that bullet.

Quote from: "dandontdare"Wow, I doff my hat to you.  :) Pat Mills on script, Jason Brashill on art. I think Hammers was retconned into being part of General Blood n' Nuts' robot army (remember him, from the Cursed Earth epic?), and after the battle was reprogrammed or something by Justice Department and put up for sale. Doesn't really fit with Ro-Busters continuity, to be honest, but it's a nice little tale.

Mek-Quake appeared, with very little explanation, in one of Walter the Wobot's short-lived adventures (the very last one, I think), crushing impounded robots for the judges. Maria had to save Walter from becoming a Big Job.

Quote from: "JimmyJ"And finally the one that is realy annoying me....a short lived story based on a special group of Judges who had been deemed too crazy to continue on normal assignemtn and instead assisgned to a special suicide squad that were sent on missions with little to no chance of survival. They had access t nicotine, alcohol and sugar and all sorts of illega drugs as because they would be dead in a a few months it didn't matter what they did to themselves. I can remember the first story being them dropped onto a runaway high-speed train o something and having to stop it. Damnit, I can't remember what it was called.....Haz-Team 1, or Havoc-Squad 1 or something like that.

Holocaust 12?

Quote from: "dandontdare"Pat Mills also managed to hook his continuity onto Dredd's - in the first series of volgan war memoirs (in Ro-Busters), one of Hammerstein's original platoon talks about getting a job building the new mega-city! (Which explains that MkIII wardroid in the movie come to think about it!).

Not to mention the four-part Dredd story called 'Hammerstein', or the fact that a Judge turns up in Nemesis, or that Mek-Quake nearly killed Walter while working for Justice Department, or that the same Satanus from the Cursed Earth pops up again in both Nemesis and ABC Warriors stories.

To be honest, though, this kind of cross-continuity just confuses things more than they need to be. Most thrills can be linked if you're really of a mind to do so, even if it's only by the filing cabinet drawer that Tharg keeps all his old characters in. :)

Hope that helps, but if you've still got any quandries, this site is a great resource for all things Warriors - just be warned it's a tad out of date, only going as far as Shadow Warriors Book 1.
