A boxing glove on a spring. The judge who opens it had better watch out...*

*Possible alternative - a custard pie on a spring. The old gags are the best, as Gant and the muties were all too aware.

I liked this - first time I've seen a character called Jimbo in a tooth strip, and for that alone it wins points. :) The man-eating polar bear was a bonus.

Bring back the classic logo if you must, but please, oh god, please, redraw the judge badge first. The chunky letters are great, but the badge is horribly dated and not even that well drawn anyway - didn't that eagle design go out the window around the time Dredd became Marshall of Lunar-1?!?

(Apologies if you're still on dial up.)

Shouldn't that be commiserations? :)

Art is aces, though - but it's hard to believe such a streamlined style came from the hand(s) of the same guy who did all that intricate painting in the '90s. Truly he is a man of many talents.

Emperor - I thought that was you I saw across the ampitheatre on Wednesday night...

As for the 'charity', that's a pretty damn mercenary way of going about things. I know the modern world is to some extent forcing even charities to be as business-minded as possible just to survive, but surely they must know that this sort of expierience is just going to put people off ever doing it again?

I've had several expieriences like Button's - suddenly found myself filling out my bank details with a reluctant hand on some charity recruitment sheets, in my own front room or town highstreet, while a smiling charity worker looms over my shoulder, nodding 'Yes, that's right. And just sign there, and there, and put the amount you would like to monthly donate there - I would remind you that most people generously pledge a minimum of twenty pounds, which we find most satisfactory...' And I'm suddenly thinking 'How the hell did I end up doing this?!'

Got no real offers of improvment, just fancied a moan. :)

Could it be the return of KONSTANTIN?!? at long last?!?

I for one am almost looking forward to the return of Arkady more. Whereas Andreas was like the older, wiser, more gentlemanly version of Dante, Arkady was like the younger, meaner, nastier version. When he returns it'll be with full Imperial backing, at the head of whatever remains of the newly restored Romanov dynasty - and he'll be gunning for our boy Nikolai. He's probably still bitter about the death of his father, and the resentment he felt at Dante's stealing of his weapons crest was never something that was resolved. Of course, if he returns with Konstantin, I may just squeal like a girl with absolute fanboy pleasure and die of sheer joy.....

The ending to this latest part.... wow.... god, what an ending. Like David said, this really should have been more obvious, but for whatever reason, it just wasn't. Everything has fallen into place - and it's safe to say my thrill-receptors are through the roof in anticipation. Can't wait to see how this pans out and ties back into... certain not-so-long ago events and (presumably) certain imminent-and-on-the-way events.

Robbie Morrisson said somewhere that it was his least favourite Dante story, but it's always been one of my faves.

Spoil it, you mean?

Well, it also features the last appearance to date of Countessa De Winter, and introduces the 'father figure' crime lord who first introduced Dante to a life of crime and taught him how to be a thief (but I can't remember his name).

He recruits together a gang of skilled thieves and assassins (including Dante and the Countessa) to steal the Romanov family jewels (hence the name of the story) from the Tsar - and the Tsar, in response, sends Arkwright after them all. It's a cracking story, it really is, and it's also the last time that Simon Fraser worked on the strip.
