It takes a brave, brave artist to show their really early stuff. I actually quite liked it, but I know that generally speaking no-one's a greater critic than the artist who did the work himself.

If Dredd thought his image and rep would help to defuse a situation or make a perp reconsider, there's no reason why he wouldn't use it. If he knew his little speech was going to make the Sinos turn back and thus avoid war - why not say it, regardless of whether he believes it? It's when he starts going on about it to colleagues and other characters for no particular reason that it starts to smack of gloating.

Floyd, I've always wondered - Bannanas? Pyjamas? Why?

While we're on the subject, anyone else notice that the Day of the Droids GN has pages 104 and 105 printed in the wrong order?

Have to admit, I really did like Helter Skelter too. I think it helped that I was so new to tooth at the time that I missed virtually every reference, leaving me thinking - 'gosh, what zany bonkers cleverness, to think up all these random monsters as examples of what you could get in other dimensions.' I suspect it wouldn't have the same effect now that I know all the strips.

Cal was wasted, as were most of the villians, but the handling of Dredd himself was superb. Even - dare I utter it? - on a par with Wagner.

Deadlock's solo outing was bonkers-mental-brilliant.

Meltdown Man was eight kinds of cool.

Helltrekkers was a guilty pleasure, a pulpy adventure that you knew you shouldn't be reading, much less enjoying, much less admiring, but you just couldn't help it.

Atavar was big-concept uber-cool space opera.

And I wouldn't even say no to a return by Inspector Ramm...

Boo yah! Great prog all round.

Incidentally Ming, I think the box pertains to the original Fargo, cos it was sealed and refrigerated. It'll be some clue to Fargo's early life that the muties have found out in the CE, and which threatens to change history and cast doubts on his and Dredd's... wait for it... ORIGINS.

Come on guys, what's happened to the cover taglines/quote from inside the prog that we used to have on the title of these review threads? Can no-one be bothered any more?

I assume you ordered yours through a local bookshop in Australia and they told you it's still shipping from the UK where their Suppliers are? ( Whomever they may be.)

Etc, etc...

Oh, the hilarity of making fun of multiple posts. Or not.

Aw shucks guys, cheers for all the nice words. If only I'd had time to colour it.

I drew up a shortlist of seven, and whittled it down to these three (god, this was hard) -

1 - Wooly's Torque. It just works. Fantastic colours and brilliant composition.

2 - Johnny Stress's Torque - Cos it's ace, and it's also a nice, original image of everyone's favourite dictator. Not often we see his face. Great red Nemesis too.

3 - Yet another Torque - this time Carlsborg's. It's got a real sense of fanatical evil about it.

The four that I also really wanted to vote for - Button, Jim C, Bart Diaz, and Radiator.

Honourable mentions to both Dog Deevers, Thyrllseeker (for plugging away so determinedly), and Lord Running Clam's great watercolours. Phew!

Having once spent an entire year working part-time at a MacDonalds, (please don't hate me) I can assure you the staff are just as incompetent, lazy, bored and disillusioned as you think, and that the company is exactly as shitty. No, actually, having seen it from the inside, it's worse.

Nah, just do what I did, start posting one day as if you've been here all along. Nice to see you've already got an icon though, not sure I could handle yet another 'grey' just now...

Heh, thanks Woolly, that means a lot. There's a bigger version at the link below that might be a bit clearer, although there's plenty in the pic I'm still not happy with - but I was just too knackered to do any more work on it.

Haven't caught up with this thread in a hell of a long time, but there's some class work here (among the bizarre multiple-post spice girl pics - umm, what the hell has been going on?!) but I'll save my gushings and praise for the voting thread.
