I hate to put a damper on either side of the argument, but as I always do on these threads, I feel compelled to have to say - Why don't some of us actually read it first so we know exactly what we're talking about?

Behing Johnny and Wulf there's a big green thing that looks like it might be a giant grasshopper or something?

Ahem...

Belly from Asylum is looming behind Wulf and Johnny

Belly from Asylum is looming behind Wulf and Johnny, and Otto Sump gets a namecheck. Heh, and I can't believe no-one's mentioned Tharg. :-)

The earliest willy I've seen in a prog was in 1213, but then I've only been reading since prog 1212. The Horned God sounds like the most probable earliest willy pic. When was the first time we saw bare boobies?

it says he returned from San Diego and "he falls asleep in a meeting with The Mighty One! Fart!"

Much as I hate to cast a shadow on all that wonderful flatulence-related theorizing you did, it actually says - "Frrrt!"

Yours,

A concerned pedant

Worst of the bunch was probably Red Razors II - The kid at the end is supposed to pick up Razors' badge and give the finger to the Halls of Justice (or its Russian equivalent), inspired by Razors into an act of defiance, but I disliked the strip so much by the end, I changed it to the kid chucking the badge away in disgust.

That's absolutely hilarious. Puts a completely different spin on the story. I was going to chuck my tpb of Red Razors away, but I'm now tempted to keep it, just because knowing that little behind-the-scenes nugget made me laugh so much.

Film & TV / Re: These films look interesting.....

My brother didn't seem to think much of the Descent - he preffered Dog Soldiers - but I borrowed his copy and fell in love. I think I like it because it avoids predictability at every oppurtunity. The 'bad things' really are quite scary, but by the time the end rolls around they aren't even really the main threat to the survivors. And the ending's great.

Descent is a film for people who liked Dog Soldiers but prefer their horror straight, without dire Buffy-style wisecracks and one-liners to deflate the tension.

Urm... I'm confused. I voted on the poll thing, but does that count? Do I need to post them here in the thread like everyone else has done?

I think you'll find the missing badge was deliberate - so that when the judge emerges dragging the perp, you're supposed to go 'But which one of them is it that's won?!' Then you see Rico looking on in the next panel and go 'Ah, it's Dredd. Of course, should have known.'

Well, seeing as I don't know if I'll have the time to finish this to anything
like a decent standard, (at the moment the colour version makes it look
as though sloppy rush jobs are going out of fashion) I'm going to submit
the line version for now so you can at least see the basic idea.

It's Nemesis and Purity circa Gothic Empire.http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/Darkjimbo2/Nemphoto1.jpg">

Exactly when does entry close, Amstor? I've got a pic I want to submit, but I dunno if the colouring's going to be done in time. I might have to post it as an unfinished piece.

Yeah, it's just great fun to be taking part, and it really makes the board feel like a community. It's something to look forward to, as there have been some really astounding entries on the other thread - but drawing ability doesn't necessarily matter. Ones like Button's (above) are some of the funniest, and therefore best, but it's great too just to see examples of boarders' stunning work (if a little offputting).

Once I saw the calibre of some entires I realised I was never going to win, but I'll keep taking part - thanks to work on my novel eating up all my spare time, I hardly ever draw anymore, so this is a great excuse to get back into the habit - and on a subject I love!
