Film Discussion / Re: Dredd:Blu Ray review
19 January, 2013, 08:41:05 PM
I order two blu-rays, as I thought I might play the first one a lot! I was meant to get them on Monday, but missed the post. It looks like someone at the post office has been playing them, because they couldn't find them when I went to pick them up.

Gave in to the urge on Wednesday and downloaded it on iTunes.

I can't really see 3D, so it seemed even better than when I saw it at the pictures - less distracting, so I could focus on the rest of the film. Seeing new stuff each time - great movie!

Announcements / Re: 3A Toys/Rebellion Press Release

McMahon Style Dredd is good for me.

Plenty of other artists would are cool as well, but that's the one I'd love to own.

Anything else is a bonus. It's all looked great so far.

There are loads of good films on.

Dredd and the John Wagner and Colin MacNeil sounds great. I can't believe I can't make it up for that weekend  :(

Events / Judge Minty at Glasgow Film Festival Feb 19th
17 January, 2013, 11:33:58 AM
I hope people don't mind me posting these as separate events rather than all in one thread. They're on different dates at different locations, so if I put them all together, any new ones I add might get lost.

We are proud to announce the Judge Minty will be screening at the Glasgow Film Festival.

Tuesday the 19th of February at 18:30

http://www.glasgowfilm.org/festival/whats_on/4788_making_a_fan_film

It will be followed by a discussion regards fan film making. The programme says 'led by Steven Sterlacchini', but anyone who has seen me attempt public speaking will be relieved, that I will only be a part of the discussion, not leading it. Hopefully another member of Team Minty might be able to make it as well.

I've had a quick look through the rest of the programme and there are some amazing films being shown, so we are honoured that they have found a place for us. During the festival Dredd is also being screened and a discussion with John Wagner and Colin MacNeil!

As always, thanks to Rebellion for giving permission for this public screening.

General / Judge Dredd work out in Men's Health Magazine

Obviously someone posted this on Facebook rather than me reading it in the Magazine.

Here's one illustration from the slide show.

General / Dredd Section on the Replica Prop Forum
16 January, 2013, 06:53:35 PM
If this has been mentioned somewhere else, please delete. I've had a quick look and couldn't see anything.

I've just seen on the RPF (Replica Prop Forum) that they've started a Dredd Section. Anyone who is aware of the RPF will realise that it's a pretty big deal. The RPF is the world's biggest online community for prop & model collectors and makers.

The fact that they've decided to create a Dredd section - NOT and Iron Man section - NOT a Batman section - NOT even a Star Wars section, shows how much of an impact the Dredd film has had.

There are some amazingly talented people on the forum including lots of professional prop makers. Expect to see lots more Judges on patrol.

Done.

It would make a nice web of even TV series.

Like the Twilight Zone, but introduced by Tharg.

Any screenings lined up for London?

We're talking to a few events. A couple are in London. As soon as any screenings are confirmed they will be announced. We won't be mentioning 'possible events', just the 100% confirmed ones.

Because of our Fan Film status, we need to be screened as part of convention or festival. We are limiting ourselves to events in the first quarter of this year, then the plan is to go online.

I will be putting a listing of all upcoming screenings on my blog and the facebook groups.

Beautiful cover Ming!

They're sort of the price I would expect for his work nowadays, especially from this period. Good to hear these are being sold on behalf of Kevin O'Neill.

I was sent a link from this gallery whilst enquiring about something else.

Stunning Kevin O'Neill work. I'd be interested to know how much the Tube Warrior cover sold for.

To think I saw Marshal Law pages at £60 a pop at a UKCAC many years ago (probably 30 years). Those were the days.

Bought myself the Nemesis toy with my Christmas money.

Might have a look at some Planet Replicas key rings later.

I know many people are already aware of this, but I thought I would put it in the events section.

Judge Minty will be screening at The Cardiff International Comic and Animation Expo, at the Mercure Holland House Hotel. The convention takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2013. The screening time and day for Judge Minty will be announced later.

Thanks to Iz for arrange the screening and as always thanks to Rebellion for giving their permission.
