General / Re: Listening to the Big Finish CD...
01 July, 2003, 09:00:52 AM
The Big Finish audio adventures are excellent in my own opinion, and there are currently reviews of the first eight (from Wanted Dredd or Alive to I love Judge Dredd) up on Dredd Times, with my long overdue reviews (sorry John) of Dreddlines and Fire from Heaven coming this weekend.

Just got to point out to anyone who hasnt listened to the latest Strontium Dog adventure Fire from Heaven that this has to be the funniest adventure to date, really tongue in check with some excellent comic moments. Think Zulu meets Animal House and your almost there!!!

Check out Dredd Times this weekend for the latest reviews.

General / Re: Hero Clix Dredd & Alpha..........

Indyclix will be available to buy in early September this year. The game uses an award winning system that is extremly simple to play and get the hang of and above all fun. Indyclix will be available in both starter packs of 8 randomly packed figures, with two game maps, dice, and counters, as well as the rules to play the game, also booster packs of 4 randomly packed figures will also be available.

The game is fast to play and you can learn the rules within a few minutes, as everything you need to play is either on the base of the figure itself or on the powers card (Pac Card) that comes with the game.

Indyclix will feature Dredd, Alpha, and currently confirmed Wulf Sternhammer and Tourqumada, as well as other 2000AD characters, and characters from other independant comic book houses such as Dark Horse, Image and Cross-Gen.

If you are still in the dark about the game I have a review of the Marvel version of the system up on Dredd Times the link is below

To be honest in the 26 years that 2000AD has been around I don't think that I have ever seen an image as powerful as the last panel of this first instalment. The images throughout are powerful but this really does stand out. We cant really judge the entire storyline from just a single instalement and will have to see the outcome but I feel that its a great start to what is going to be a stiring of emotions and if a story doesn't invoke an emotion, positive or negative, then it isnt working.

Me thinks that this could be an April Fools wind up as it is after all dated 1/04/03, but then again.

Btw I think that it would be really cool to have a black actor play old Stonyface, it worked in Daredevil :)

Hi Wod,
Heres a list of all the captains mentioned so far and the vessels they commanded.

Captain Johnathan Archer USS Enterprise NX 01 (Enterprise TV Series)
Captain Robert April USS Enterprise NCC 1701

Captain Christopher Pike USS Enterprise NCC 1701

Captain James Tiberius Kirk USS Enterprise NCC 1701 (Classic Star Trek Series)

Captain Will Deckard USS Enterprise NCC 1701 (Refited for Star Trek Motion Picture, though Deckard never actually took full command he still had the rank of Captain)

Captain Spock USS Enterprise NCC 1701
(Star Trek Wraith of Khan)

Captain James Kirk USS Enterprise NCC 1701-A
(Star Trek IV,V, VI)

Capt Harriman USS Enterprise NCC 1701-B
(Star Trek Generations)

Captain Rachel Garret USS Enterprise NCC 1701-C
(Star Trek Next Generation: Yesterdays Enterprise)

Captain Jean Luc Picard USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D
(Star Trek Next Generation seasons 1-7)

Captain Edward Jellico USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D
Star Trek Next Generation: Chain of Command)

Captain Jean Luc Picard USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E
(Star Trek First Contact, Insurrection, Resurection)

and in theory Captain William Thomas Riker as he acheives the rank in both Resurection and at least two Next Generation episodes.

Also Scotty's rank is that of Captain by Star Trek II but he is refered to as commander for some reason.

Hope this helps and I didnt miss any out.

Hi,
My son Daniel is now 10 and has been reading 2000AD since he was around 7 but really getting into it in the past year or so. My youngest daughter is 9 and loves the world of Dredd, with Hershey as her favourite character, closley followed by Anderson. My wife has been reading the comics since we met almost 15 years ago and my eldest who is now 16 used to read it before she discovered boys and makeup

I was really surprised when I got SFX last week and saw the review of Prog 2003, kind of a mute point really, and not a very good review.

Still who am I to complain if it gives the comic a plug :)

okay will fess up here. I too had the Gnasher problem and thought that it was Gansher for some reason, but then again I am dyslexic. Though over the years I have heard some real corkers, included someone calling Dredd, D read (close as I can get it down), Hershey as Heresy and Cal as Cale. People say the funniest things dont we :)

Hi,
I have already covered fatties and eating competitons in the first crazes book, but will be taking another look at them in the sequel. Eating cars and stuff like that will make an apperance in a new Tri-D show i am planning on including :)
