I am currently planning a follow up to Rookies Guide to Crazes, Crazes Too that I hope to have finished and available as a free PDF file for anyone who wants it sometime next month. I already have Spitting, Bite Fighting, Sponts, Jimping ready to go in the book as well as some strange crazes and fads, if anyone has any ideas of what they would like to see please post or mail me at crazes@dreddtimes.com

Talking of stamp collecting. I was on Manchester Victoria trainstation when I was writing the Crazes book and saw some very sad (sorry if this offends)gentlemen waiting for a new loco to come through the station. Growing up in the UK we come to take the trainspotter as a granted part of our strange culture, so I thought why not update them to the 22nd Century and created the Judge Spotters. I didnt think that Mongoose would buy the idea but low and behold it made the book :)

On of my faves from the comic was Choppers dad with his egg head-butting antics and who among us doesnt like a good sit every now and then

Hi,
I spent many hours pouring over the hobbies, pastimes and crazes that have hit the Big Meg while I was writing The Rookies Guide to Crazes for the Judge Dredd roleplaying game from Mongoose Publishing. There are certanly a lot of strange and wierd pastimes, but my favourite aside from skysurfing has to be pro-eating.

:-)

16 February, 2003, 08:08:57 AM
Hi,
Just a quick message to inform you all that I have posted a quick overview of The Rookies Guide to Crazes. It was a bit pointless reviewing the product as I wrote it, but I wanted to show some of the ideas and insperation that went into the creation of the supplement.

You can find the overview at the following url:

Help! / Re: What are heroclix figures?.......
18 February, 2003, 05:38:05 AM
Hi Devons Daddy,
Heroclix is one of the fastest selling table-top games of last year, and looks set to become even bigger this year. The games (Heroclix, Mechwarrior, Mage Knight) all share a similar games mechanics that is really simple to learn (around 5 mins) and can be really addictive and costly!

The game uses a very simple system with all the things you need to know being on the base of the figure and on a quick reference sheet, and once your familiar with the powers and abbilties the sheet is only there as a reminder.

I wont go into too much detail here, but there is a review of the basic game on Dredd Times that you can check out, which more or less explains the full rules of the game. The miniatures are all pre-painted ideal for those who are not that skilled with a paint brush or just dont have much time to sit down and paint, and unlike games from other miniatures companies, Heroclix is a tradeable game allowing you to swap and trade with fellow collectors in your area and of course via the internet.

On another note WizKids have just announced that they are to produce the worlds first action figure game Shadowrun:Duels, based around one of the best selling roleplaying games of the 90's. The figures are amazing with 17 points of articulation (ie moving the hands, arms, head, etc) and come with a load of accessories. One to watch out for.

Anyway check out the link for the review and go to the news page(http:www.dreddtimes.com/news ) for the information on Shadowrun.
Hope this helps

And you can check out some of these excellent Stikfas conversions of 2000AD characters by my good friend David Mason. Going to upload my own as soon as I get the chance to finish painting them.

Hi,
The figure your thinking of is from Medicom and still around but at a whopping ?120 or so. The likeness to Stallone is really good and the figure has a cloth uniform and accessories. Nice but far to expensive for me. http://store5.yimg.com/I/artoftoy_1727_100490661">
