So the simple reply to all of those Britian Furst/Reclaim Australia posts saying "Why should we help refugees when Saudia Arabia et al are plenty rich and refuse to take any refugees" is "Just because somebody else is being a cockwomble doesn't mean you have to be".

But where do I find a proper measured rebuttal to it?

Yeah, it's a blurry figure shape that you can see if you freeze frame against one of the explosions. I only have DVDs, it might show up better on HD or blu-ray.  I'm not convinced.

I started trying to watch THREADS OF DESTINY last night but gave up. Even Phantom Menace had the common sense to get into a light sabre vs. droids fight within the first five minutes but after twenty minutes this was still people yammering on about trade rights and secession and empires and republics.

What was with the fuzzy light around everybody? Is that a by-product of doing green screen stuff poorly?

P.S. The joke was in the choice of words, not the sentiment.

Ah, I see. A bit like one of those chaps that says: "I'm a really nice guy and I respect women. Everybody says so. Even the girls I know. But not one of the whore bitch sluts will sleep with me!"

I'm not on facebook so cant help but have wanted to say this somewhere that would get your attention. My mate saw a photo of you at one of his friends house and remembered you from Jaws 3. Small world eh?

Apparently his brother in law is mates with your brother.

Oh yeah, that would be Big Al, head of the Monkey-Tron Collective. He mentioned that. It was JAWS: The Revenge.  I think I once started a thread about Boarders and Six Degrees of Separation but it quickly turned into "I went for a piss next to celebrity Y" thread.

The burdens of my youth and middle-age transpire to be identical: not enugh minge.

Pleease Shark. As we often point out to others, there are polite ways to express such woes that don't reduce our splendid female counterparts.

(I intensely dislike the fact that conversations between my FB friends and people I don't know appear in my newsfeed. It feels intrusive.)

Thanks. Me too. It's a bit like; there's a party going on over there - and you aren't invited...

Is there a setting that I can use so that I don't see when friends comment on other people's stuff (who I am not friends with). Can I tailor it to JUST taht one friend or will it impact all?

TL: DNR version
A friend of a friend keeps posting the most dreadful islamophobic shite under the guise of being concerned about christians and jews. She comments on it and I see it.
I really don't have the time, energy or smarts to go the source and challenge this person.
I should probably just unfriend her (her religous views also make her more than a little homophobic) but still have to see her and hubby and child in real social situations.
So, for now, ignoring it is my preferred option.

Prog / Re: Prog 1946 - Dark Stars Rising

Another good prog for me. Nothing to add over and above what's already been said but I didn't immediately take to Dead World despite the component art and script being good... I'm maybe not on board with the concept. But will give it more chances as, like I say, it's not them, it's me.

Hmm a flattering post about Channing Tatum, must be Tips....WHAT???

That's one of the joys of being comfortable with your own sexuality.

I think I'll give Magic Mike a watch. Just to keep Mrs Tips happy of course...

Also, hands-down the best film version of Batman

Yeah I was struck by how natural it felt that he was an arsehole. I mean yeah... the dude is a millionaire that dresses up as a bat and duffs up the poor and desperate criminals motivated by little more than angst and boredom.

...& poverty!!!!

It's Batman's motivation being talked about. But you are right. Poverty, Poverty, Poverty.

But what if it is the new Jar Jar?

Or says dialogue like "I hate sand. It's all rough. Not like you, you're smooth."

No one in the history of film has said that. No one. Ever.

My memory is not what it used to be. It's a running gag in our house. And nobody is arsed enough to correct it.

Billy Connolly and the Tenth Doctor can't save family drama/comedy What We Did On Our Holiday

Seeing Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkins name on this I was looking forward to "Outnumbered: The Movie" with added Rosamund Pike. Sadly the few laughs there were (all in the trailer) dry up after forty five minutes.
