News / Re: Nicole Kidman Injured In Zombi...

Incidentally, the version of Dawn of the Dead on PSP was billed as a Director's Cut.

I saw it at the cinema but can't actually recall it being any different.

Anybody know?

I was so underwhelmed by LAND OF THE DEAD that I have no Romero anticipation left.

I'd quite happilly watch another Zombie movie made by the people that did the remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD though.

I rewatched it recently (on PSP*) and had forgotten how much I enjoyed it.  Very nice line in black humour.  True, it has it's faults (too many "thin" characters too quickly introduced, and bad scenes with Zombie Max Headroom and Zombie baby) but not as many as LAND had.

* A very strange experience lying in bed watching a film as the machine rests on your stomach  - I can think of other applications for this technology.

Kidman's and Craig are also turning up in HIS DARK MATERIALS next year - sounds like good casting to me.

In other good news, the "never been near the ugly tree" Eva Green (Vesper Lynd in Casion Royale" also joins in the fun as Serafina (sp) the witch.

You know, the naked witch.

The beautiful, naked witch.

The beautiful, long limbed naked witch.

The beautiful, long limbed, heaving bosomed, naked witch.

There was quite an interesting interview with her in Friday's GRAUNIAD in which she sounded very french.  (And at the end of which, I couldn't quite shake off the feeling that the interviewer had goon for a good long wank .

Yay!

Got my Wii yesterday.

First impressions are great - waggling the stick in your hand and seeing it shuggle about on screen is a distinct "Wow" moment even though it shouldn't be.  And a good sound from the remote when you "thwack" a baseball.

Had fun watching my daughter and her boyfriend boxing. The pair of them ducking and diving their heads about like it made a difference.

Even managed to connect it to the wireless in the house and did some limited internet browsing.

And Mii is a great concept - we have the whole family programmed in already.

Looking forward to every spare hour being spent on ZELDA, WII SPORTS, WII PLAY, MONKEY BALL and CALL OF DUTY 3.

Name me some good comics, written by women, that have all the usual superhero hullaballoo in them?

We were bidding for a radiator for the bathroom but dropped out of the auction as soon as it went higher than the Buy it Now price that someone else had for the same radiator.

We popped over to the other auction and bought it now for £275 but the person in the original auction continued and ended up paying £350.  They probably still thought they'd done OK because it was £400 in B&Q.

But surely you'd set your highest bid to any similar BUYITNOW prices that were around?

I introduced Tiny Tips to the joys of ebay this weekend.

His first purchase - LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST to play on his DS.  A bargain at $8.49, especially after trawling round every game shop in Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.

Not even seven and he's won his first auction.  I hope he grows up to be a geek like his Dad. Well, not exactly like his Dad - with any luck he'll have his mother's looks. And brains.  And dress sense.  And tenacity. And common sense. And temprament...

Depends on exactly which incarnations of Slaine and Rogue you mean but, in principle, I'm with DXB block.

This probably contradicts whatever I said on the "Without Dredd, 2000AD is nothing" debate but I can't be bothered being consistent or going back to check.

DHL and the builders down the bottom of the hill have conspired to keep the Wii out of my hands for another four days.

Builders block access for vans of Friday.

DHL bloke can't be bothered walking up hill to deliver box (all of 100 yards).

DHL bloke doesn't even leave card.

We track parcel on Saturday Am. Discover it's sitting in KIlmarnock office.

Can't get through to Kilmrnock office - "Sorry, shut at weekends - can deliver on Tuesday."

DHLs website has to be the fussiest bag of shite I have ever seen.

Grrrr!

have to wait until turesday night for a Wii now.

You know, and I'm being DEADLY SERIOUS here, you could write up an amusing article about the letters (the nutty debates, the nutters, Floyd) in 2000ad and the Megazine and send it in to them.

It would be miles more entertaining than the filler (17 Best Movie Deaths!) we are fed and would also make an amusing footnote to Thrill Power Overload.

I also think Tharg could do a CHOICE CUTS FROM THE MESSAGE BOARD box-out if he's running short of letters.  There's always a couple of laugh out loud comments worth repeating to the larger readership.
