Presentation wise the rules are the same as any ther event
- don't get drunk
- speak slowly and clearly
- imagine that the audience is naked to calm your nerves

Pitchwise:
- make sure you have a STORY not just an idea
- look at the submission guidelines on this site to make sure you have all the ingredients
- join scriptdroids where you get loads of free critique

It's a great laugh presenting to such a friendly audience - they really want to hear good stories and thus are rooting for you.

Well, he's still in the RUNNING, MAN, despite all of these communists putting a lot of RED HEAT on him.  I mean if George Bush JUNIOR can make it in politics surely old Arnie can.

I'm sure having such a babe on his knee did set his heart PUMPING. IRONy is, at the END OF the DAY(s) we still don't know who to believe.

I don't know if the TWINSet and pearls crowd will vote for him though after this scandal, maybe he shuold TERMINAT HER or go by an ice cream CONE AND DESTROY HER... err... help, I'm running out of ill thought through Arnold puns

I'm not bothered by the non-linear nature of the story - some of my favourite things are disjointed and half of the joy of watching such a tale unfold can be in the gradual decoding of events.

However, the things that concern me is that it all seems a bit one note so far - "Meet Kaith, he's a bad ass". For me, there hasn't been much to unravel so far.

Somebody said "strong character" above but I don't think that this is always enough  in something like this (where there isn't much in the way of a story as Si has admitted). I'd expect the character to be complex as well. So far, that hasn't happened for me.

(Of course, the climax and/or next few episodes, could throw up some twist that makes me go back and revisit the prebvious episodes in a different light and show me the complexity I want.)

But it's still not a bad tale and if you can't experiment in the Galaxies greatest comic, then where can you experiment?

PS: The art is very good as well.

A slightly reserved thumbs up from me.

Tha's not a mutant. That's normal, that is.  A proper mutant is and ectoplasmic blob of horror born with fourteen heads, twelve mouths and speaks in tongues from the second the midwife claps eyes on it.  Other people die because it makes THEIR insides not work right but it still has time to get up and do a good 24 hours days worth of bounty hunting before being trapped in an electromagnetic snare for eternity.

Nah, I think copying the style to that degree may be valid for fanzine work but it isn't right for 2000AD.

Rufus can obviously draw and he's using his own layout and composition (i.e. not tracing over other work as far as I can see) so I'd prefer to see his own style.

Our 13 are all from the one marriage.

Catholics?

No, just very sloppy protestants.

A travelling 2000AD exhibition? In Harrogate?

Blimey, if I'd known in time I could have popped down to visit my brother and sister and done a bit of 2000AD stuff as well.

So what was the exhibition all about?  And do you know any other dates?

I may have been ignorant and missed this tour being advertised but that won't stop mne saying.....zzttt... Chuckle Brothers mode engaged....zzzzttt...

The fact that this tour has not been publicised is disgraceful and unprofessional. Being one of the top (35%) management consultants, top (12%) game designer and top (3.2%) event organisers in the country I should know how you publicise a travelling exhibition and this isn't it. You Ostritches may think it's OK but I think it's unimaginitive and shows the malaisde at the core of Rebellion. Disgraceful!  Rebellion and 2000ad deserve to go bankrupt for being so badly organised and several key members of staff deserve public flogging. You are all f...zzztkwits...

zzzttt....zzztttt.... Tiplodocus mode engaged... zzzt.

Harrogate?  Isn't that the town where the shop windows are bi-focal?

DREDD was a good tale and well written but I didn't like some aspects of the art.  I've never been a fan of that "arms in different positions in the same frame to depict movement" thing. I also didn't think the clothes and settings captured that essential Mega City madness - it could have been any vaguely noirish future city.

LEVIATHAN had an ending that was curiously unsatisfyin. Possibly because it trod on several well worn cliches.  If I see another pair of comedy fishermen hooking an unexpected big one again I'll eat my tail.  I'd have thought it better if LAMENT died myself - his wife was a bit of an OMNITRON (see below). Now if HASTUR had saved him - him being very poweful - I could understand it but why his wife?

SIN/DEX - more OMNITRONs in this. I really hate plot devices pulled out of a science fiction/fantasy bag of tricks with casual disregard to the reader and rules of interesting narrative.  And more SIN/DEX shooty bangs and tarantino referencing - not my cup of tea but I'm glad some of you like it

FROM GRACE - I'm enjoying this despite it still being a bit one note for me. I do like some of his bad deeds. I thought the "SHE SAYS"  "AND HE SAYS" panels at the end worked really well but I can't quite put my finger on why.

That DVD advert had rude words in it. I bet the guy that wrote the copy for that is really big and clever.

Buffalo Soldiers is pretty good - it takes a bit of time to get into the rythm of the film - you need to get over the "this is just a very dark Sgt Bilko episode" feeling to enjoy it fully. There's some crap slapsticky stuff with a tank early on but once you get over that it's pretty good stuff. Excellent cast, as somebody has pointed out - Scott Glenn is superb (was just watching him in the rather marvellous RIGHT STUFF the other night - what a great and underrated actor).

My kids didn't like Spy Kids 3D as much as the first 2.

By the way, this thread is a really good idea and a bit of a public service for those of us who never get time to read papers and tv listing magazines - thanks.

...er... I'm not sure how I can put this politely but I'm sending a story called SPERM COUNT off to the States.  I was going to include a few jokey references to SPUNK in the covering letter.

So, er, does SPERM = SPUNK over in the good old US of A?

Or am I having a fag out of my fanny?
