Thanks ever so for the kind words and comments.

I've also had some less positive feedback on the earlier installments - this was also valuable and thanks to the people that made that as well.

I hope that when the final part arrives, you enjoy it as much.

Yes, it's here Part Four of Judge Dredd: Moon in The Undercity; the tale that everyone* is reading and talking about.

Click on the link and it will take you to the Script Test section of this site where, as well as part 4 of my 5 part adventure describing Dredd's journey into the Undercity to cleanse it of werewolves, you will also find most excellent scripts by the likes of Arthur Wyatt and PVS.  Arthur's a proper script droid an all now so it's bound to be good.

For those of you late to the show, let me explain that I'm just doing this for fun and to see if I've got a clue about how to pace a longer story.  I'll be immensely grateful of ANY feedback you can spare the time to give.

(You'll also find the first three parts of the werewolf tale. )

Please read and if you enjoy reading it half as much as I did writing it then I can only apologise...

*if your definition of everyone is actually TWO people. And one of them is me Mum.

I'm not going to go into details of any misdemeanours hre but I will tell you about the time in Leeds where a chum and I both happened to go out wearing Black Bomber jackets.

We decided that it would be a laugh to stand at the door of the pub and pretend to be bouncers, turning people away for random reasons.

Obviously, "Sorry, no trainers" stops a lot of people, as does "Sorry, couples only".

But it is unbelievable how many people will turn away when you say "Sorry, orange socks only" or
" Only parties with even numbers of people allowed in tonight".

We stood out front for about an hour (people bringing us drinks from inside) and it wasn't until the barman noticed that the pub was not filling up that he came to find out what was going on.

If we turned away anyone here, I do apologise.

Aaaar! Me beauties!

Lubbers the lot of ye.

Why I was thrown out od The Black Pearl in Tortega Bay for splicing the bilge rat behind the bar for spillin' me tankard of grog.  So I took one look at the buxom beauty behind the bar and shivered her timbers.  That was a Jolly Roger I can tell you.

Arrrr!

Hey Bou, my brother in law is a paramedic and he says you firefighters don't need fancy helmets because all you are is glorified drip stands.  He said they refer to you normal firefighters as "buttercups" and to the chief as "snowdrop".

Isn't inter-service rivalry a wonderful thing?

What do you Firey lot call paramedics and police?

There's a webcam in the pool of Shamu the Orca  at Seaworld in FLorida (shamu.cam). Terrible that the ppor thing is locked up but you don't half get some scary images of black and white and teeth coming at you!

How can you be bored on this site?

Have a route around the cover gallery. Read some scripts.  Check out the old news archives. Read the interviews with creators.

Before you know it, your A-Levels will be finished, you'll have failed them all because you were immersed in 2000AD and you'll be working in McDonalds.

Why not? I'd like to hear from people who didn't like it as well. Offer some critique from what you can remember.

Ah yes. Those Austin painted covers were an absolute delight as well.  The one with Laser Eraser dropping an egg on Pressbutton's head is a beautiful example of how to make a standard portrait cover quirky and interesting (it would have been sooo dull if they were just pointing guns at the reader).

Just remembered the BOJEFFRIES SAGA as well - a funny strip that was actually funny!

I always thought that Steve Moore might like to bring PRESSBUTTON to 2000AD but now that LOBSTER RANDOM is in there, I guess there's even less chance of that happening.

YTTIM, I'll be flogging my Warriors shortly - this thread is a blatant attempt to stir up interest ;) - I'm really trying to decluutter the house and will be using the proceeds to finance a special comic related project) so keep your eyes open in the classifieds.

Off Topic / WARRIOR - What did you think
16 September, 2003, 12:07:02 AM
I've just been reading through my back collection of WARRIOR comics and was transported back to the heady days of 1982, college, a-ha topping the charts and I had a thoroughly good time.

Given the amount of TOOTH names in the credits, I thought it might be pertinent to start a thread all about the magazine of wonderfully strange heroes.

There's no denying the ambition behind it, the variety of strips and styles and the amount of unadulterated thrill power (for want of a better term) on offer.

Those first dozen issues with Marvelman, V, Shandor (and I do mean strip!), Spiral Path, Pressbutton all on absolutely top form and I feel are as good if not better than anything from tooth's golden age.

Now I like nice clean artwork so I can sit all day and read Leach, Davis, Dillon, Parkhouse, Jackson, Lloyd etc drawn strips - but I imagine that it wasn't challenging/idiosyncratic enough for some tastes.

The writers appear to be on top form as well - Alan Moore was in one pf his  wordy phases but the words compliments the art rather than just reiterating it.  Steve Moore managed to get laughs and pathos from Pressbutton. I can't remember who wrote Shandor but it was such an epic tale from such an initially dull concept (oh, a demon fighting monk).

but oh the amount of filler... so many in-house ads, sometimes three pages of letters, and then the Dez Skinn tales and the European reprints (I'm assuming this is what Bogey and Cyril Tompkins were).  It very soon became hard to figure out what you were spending your money on.

Overall, I loved it. Some questions:
How many of you have actually read it?
What did you think?
How many issues did it run for?

May I suggest then, that on absolutely no account should you ever watch the risible (in a bad way) JOHNNY ENGLISH.

It's meant to be a comedy, alledgedly, but there is absolutely NO logic to the villains actions. None. It makes not the slightest jot of sense. Nothing that happens is logical, it happens only to set up a lame gag and/or move the heroes into the next scene.

And you've all made me think I've been too kind to Oceans 11 (remake).

Me, hearties.

Ahoy,

"It's happened to a couple of films I own, most recently the Wachowskis' 'Bound' "

How odd - I've got a version of this covered strange icky white goo as well...

Italian Job original - It must be said, I think I'm with Rennie - for ages I thought it was a cracking film based on memories from years back and then I watched it again and a lot of it made me cringe.  There are some admittedly brilliant strokes in it but the cringe factor was too much for me to enthuse about it.   The only reason I'm thinking about going to see the remake is because it's a 12 and I can take the kids - that's how much choice we get these days. Mark Wahlberg - doesn't he just disappoint on so many levels after a promising start...

I was actually pretty impressed with Ocean's 11 the remake in a "Hollywood exerise in cool" kind of way.  Silk purse out of a pig's ear was the phrase that sprung to mind.

Er... me hearties.

Well that was jolly nice.

An enjoyable pint in the afternoon with Hexen, Trout's minion and Mister Rennie.

Hope you didn't mind me bringing the little sauropods along  (and the littlest Tips says thank you for his sweeties...)
